Round 1 opens Feb 14

As this is a new comm, we're going to do a bit of a trial run to make sure we get all the tags in place and bugs ironed out. So I'll be hosting the first round, together with my lovely co-host

rufflefeather.

Join us this week if you've got a WIP you are looking to work on, or join the comm if you are looking to host or participate in the coming weeks. We're still ironing out all the details... but this comm will be as active as interest lasts in these time of encouragement campaigns. I don't expect to have one of these happening every week. But the comm is available to keep people informed when they are being hosted. If you are interested in hosting one soon, claim your week at the scheduling post.

Skimming the sign-ups looks like it's multi-fandom friendly. Go GSD!

However, this begs the question... Is there reason enough to set up a multi-fandom comm for this type of activity? Possibly??? But I don't have the time to actually cheerlead every week. I'm happy to set up the comm and let people 'host' these from there, but they'll be 100% responsible for that week's posts and cheerleading.

ella_bane? This was your brain child, did you have any plans now that's Baby has crawled out of the nest and sprouted wings?

Thoughts? Please be honest... I'm just as happy to leave it as is. Though I know several of you suggested a designated comm during Accio Words. I see the benefits to both.

Authors and Artists? Do you have a few works-in-progress sitting lonely on your computer? Have deadlines looming? Do you wish you could get at least one of your works-in-progress done like RIGHT NOW?

Together, let's get shit done.

This idea – and most of the wording of these posts – were shamelessly stolen with full knowledge and permission from

ella_bane who hosted a Merlin version last week. This was intended to appease my HP flist who ~~sulked~~ wanted an HP version. Along the way this grew to be multi-fandom. All pairings, all fandoms are welcome.

Join me this week, starting TODAY. Pick one WIP that you're fairly certain you can finish in a week, if you were to work on it every day. Post the first paragraph of that work, or any part of it you wish, to this post. That's your way of letting everyone know, yes, you want to get shit done, you need encouragement, and you need public accountability to get your ass in gear.

Easy rules:

For Fic
• In the subject line of your comment, post the pairing and tentative title.
• Post at one paragraph from the work. (optional)
• Please warn if your snippet has triggery stuff.
• Give me your total wordcount as it stands now.
For art:
• In the subject line of your comment, post the pairing and tentative title.
• Post a pic of your WIP as it stands now (optional)
• Please warn if your pic has triggery stuff.

Every day this week, I'll do a Check In post so you can tell everyone your progress. At the end of the week, hopefully, we'll all be done!

For anon works:
- If you are like me, and working on something that will be posted anon, feel free to be vague about your results or alter to your word count number. Personally, I’m working on my

hd_remix and the word count alone would likely give me away in that small fest!
- For people working on

hp_kinkfest, the mods have given you permission to anon!fail about your work.(As in: don’t announce the prompt number you are working on, but your title, word count and snippets can all be shared.)
- Anon commenting is welcome, if you prefer that.

How do I get notified of these posts?

Everyone loves new friends! I know I do!!! But, for example, if you want to play in the Get Shit Done campaign, you don't need to friend me. I don't want to set up a comm to do this because frankly I mod about 10 comms already and I don't need to set up another! So this thing is going to stay in my LJ but it seems to be growing past my flist and I don't want anyone to feel obligated to friend me.

If you want to be notified every time I post about this, without adding me to your flist you can track my LJ based on the Getting Shit Done tag.

This is also true for following my recs (either the Merlin Recs or HP Recs tags are always used). I make sure to tag my rec entries carefully exactly for this reason. No one should be subjected unnecessarily to my spam. ;)

Okay, so based on your comments (and on my own schedule) I'm going with...

Opening post (basically a roll call for who all want to play) will go up Sunday afternoon (EST). Monday morning, I will post simply a reminder about the fact that this is starting. You can sign up either Sunday or Monday.

Tuesday morning and for the next 6 mornings, I will do a check-in post around 9am (EST).

DO NOT WORRY ABOUT THE TIMINGS!!! There is no need to 'be around' when these posts happen to go up. Everyone's schedule will be different, just comment when you happen to see the post, check out who else has commented and pat them on the back for the progress they've made and/or poke them for more. :)

Everyone is welcome to join, regardless of pairing, fandom, or the fact that they only hear about it on Wednesday!

If you are working on something that won't be done in a week, no problem. Just try to have an goal in mind. I want to get 5k of my Big Bang done! Whatever is an attainable goal for you if you work on it every day for week.

I'm starting to get organized for next weeks HP Get Shit Done.

What the hell am I talking about? The campaign is meant for writers and artists to grab that WIP by the throat and just FINISH THE DAMN THING! It's going to run exactly like

ella_bane's Merlin version that you can find here.

It will have an initial Sign-in Post were you declare that you are playing, tell us what WIP you are working on, and give your current word count and a snippet or a pic of your WIP-art.

Obviously for anon fests we'll need forgo the snippets. However, vaysh and I have agree that anyone using this campaign to work on

hp_kinkfest can give snippets of their WIPs because fuck the anon rule! If this will help you write/draw and not have to drop out, it totally worth it! :D

Then there are check-ins through-out the week, letting everyone know what progress you've made (more snippets and updated arts are made of WIN!)

This process worked really well in the Merlin version because everyone was reading each others snippets and cheerleading everyone along and getting excited about progress! [I got mine off to beta yesterday so YAY! It totally worked for me!]

ANYWAY!!! this is all a background for me to be able to ask the following questions:

When would you like this to start: Sunday afternoon or Monday morning? (EST)
When would you like to see check ins: Every morning (9am)? Every evening(7pm)? (EST)

For me... I'd go with opening Monday morning, then every morning at 9am after that because that way I am around to reply to everyone. However! That may be horrible times for the majority of players, so I need to know! I'm happy to make the posts at times that are most convenient for the people Getting Shit Done, but it will mean that I will be posting and running off line and not there to cheerlead. :/
