hd_holidays it’s not even funny. Though I imagine everyone following that fest is in the same boat. Just how many novellas were in that fest? The two weeks of postings have so many tempting fics, lots of long, plotty goodness! Thank God those lovely mods gave us two weeks before reveals.

This is a wonderful quiet fic of Draco’s journey to finding his way in the first few months of the post war world. Both Draco and Harry’s characterisations are stellar and the writing is beautiful.

First – read the warnings, then second – read my rec. FWIW - I’m very careful about reading non-con and I adored this fic and will gladly read it again. The Fenrir/Draco bits were horrifying and raw – ngl - but not overly detailed such that I couldn't read or had to skim. For me this wasn’t a ‘dark fic’ but rather a fic with dark elements. It’s an incredible hurt/comfort. With hero!Harry who is confused about life and becomes obsessed with solving this case and ‘saving Draco’. Both Harry and Draco are wonderfully characterised and their feral interaction and the fucking GORGEOUS sex scene --UNF!!! – will stay in my brain forever.

I'm reccing this to you for sooooo many reasons! First this is a great fic, and I'm really reccing it like mad to everyone who enjoys het and next genners!

It has fabulous women: Pansy is sex on a stick and Rose… awe, Rose is studying to be an Auror! Bless her little heart – why aren't there more Auror!Rose fics out there??? Auror!Rose FTW! She is a delightful mix of both Ron and Hermione. Also, her being an Auror-in-training isn't just an "author needs a career for Rose, insert misc career here" it is an actual plot point, and says something about her character.

Also! Scorpius is a doll! He and Rose are this amazingly adorable couple together, funny and sweet and romantic, which is an amazing juxtaposition with Harry and Pansy who are absolutely filthy delish together.

It's long and plotty and romantic, with a great cast of characters. In other words, it feels perfect for you and I hope you find a quiet moment over the hols to enjoy it.

The UST that starts this fic absolutely sizzles. I was immediately drawn in devoured this fic. Interesting plot and great use of magic all wrapped in a delicious second chance story.

Summary: After the Dark Lord was destroyed, Draco Malfoy had to start all over. He had no idea it would be quite so difficult.

This fic could have gone many ways with this premise (post war Draco lost and frustrated and constantly getting fired from crappy jobs) either endless angsty or total crack, but the author chose something right in the middle. Draco was a perfect mix of vulnerability and strength, resign and hope. It was easy to empathise with him, enjoy his successes and pity him for his losses without feeling manipulated. In the end it was a very fun read, an a great story.

Totally. I love the D/s here and the consent issues which were just right to me, erotic without being disturbing just... that kind of 'force my hand so that I sit back and let this happen because I want it to but will never admit it' sort of consent-confusion. HELLO DUB-CON BUTTON HOW ARE YOU THIS MORNING? But this kink fic is wonderfully complex in the psychology of the characters (and way better than I am doing justice to here) and the fic is wonderfully told with brilliant writing, brilliant characterisation and sex that will melt your keyboard.

God, this author is brilliant and wicked with their words. It’s an infidelity fic and all that entails. I wasn’t left devastated, but it’s a beautiful 2k that gnawed me raw. So much of what I adore about H/D is right there in this messed up fic.

This fic has a wonderful feel to it. Truly a romantic fantasy with Harry at this exotic local, a gorgeous mansion surrounded by all his friends – and the new and improved!Draco Malfoy (who happens to be stunning and clever and flirty). The author does a fantastic job of transporting the reader (like Harry) into this wonderful get away, where silly things like old house rivalries just don’t mean that much over time and Draco is simply irresistible. *happy sigh* Lovely, lovely read.

This is an incredibly compelling story of Draco (who is a bit lost in life and trying to find his way, trying to fight depression and find his purpose) discovering he is very needed – in more ways than he can imagine - by cursed!Harry. The UST is just delish and the depiction of Harry’s curse is incredibly well done. The reader is immersed into Harry’s POV as he struggles with control and his primal needs.

There is something about

hd_holidays that just warms my heart. The participants go all out, giving gifts that are really something special for their giftee. And this one is no exception. Not only was this an awesome art, but I know almost everyone who saw it was also thinking OMG! ALAANA is going to LOVE this! I know I was. :D
