I'm starting to get organized for next weeks HP Get Shit Done.

What the hell am I talking about? The campaign is meant for writers and artists to grab that WIP by the throat and just FINISH THE DAMN THING! It's going to run exactly like ella_bane's Merlin version that you can find here.

It will have an initial Sign-in Post were you declare that you are playing, tell us what WIP you are working on, and give your current word count and a snippet or a pic of your WIP-art.

Obviously for anon fests we'll need forgo the snippets. However, vaysh and I have agree that anyone using this campaign to work on hp_kinkfest can give snippets of their WIPs because fuck the anon rule! If this will help you write/draw and not have to drop out, it totally worth it! :D

Then there are check-ins through-out the week, letting everyone know what progress you've made (more snippets and updated arts are made of WIN!)

This process worked really well in the Merlin version because everyone was reading each others snippets and cheerleading everyone along and getting excited about progress! [I got mine off to beta yesterday so YAY! It totally worked for me!]

ANYWAY!!! this is all a background for me to be able to ask the following questions:

When would you like this to start: Sunday afternoon or Monday morning? (EST)
When would you like to see check ins: Every morning (9am)? Every evening(7pm)? (EST)

For me... I'd go with opening Monday morning, then every morning at 9am after that because that way I am around to reply to everyone. However! That may be horrible times for the majority of players, so I need to know! I'm happy to make the posts at times that are most convenient for the people Getting Shit Done, but it will mean that I will be posting and running off line and not there to cheerlead. :/

Oh! and I have lovely, lovely banners - Thank you, hermette - I'll post code for pimping when I open this.

This isn't necessarily for old WIPs that have been gathering dust. It's for stuff that you are currently really inspired to work on and/or have a deadline looming.

Whether that be a quick PWP that you've just got in your head and need to finally sit and type or that first chapter of your Big Bang that you can't seem to get started on.

I'd say morning because... most people stay up later rather than not. This way if I'm up writing until 2am, I can still post for that day. If that makes sense? Also, since you're running it, I'd say whatever is easiest for you.

Sunday afternoon works better for me as a kick-off point, because at 9am Monday I'll be at the office. I work Monday & Wednesday this week, so any days besides those, I can check in at 9am. On those days, I can do my "check in" later in the day, yes? I shall get my hd_remix done! Yes, yes! This is great, by the way. *glomps you*

Are you going to set up a filter, so the snippets are visible only to participants? I ask because then maybe more snippets could be provided, presuming the recipient in a fest isn't in the group. Thoughts? Then again, we could email to a couple of participants as an alternative. I like the idea of the encouragement, even if I might be a wee bit nervous at the idea of sharing my raw writing. :)

No filter... I really liked the 'openness' of what ella did with Merlin one. The snippets were short and rough, but that's okay! Because we all know that are WIPs aren't pretty until well after the first draft is done. They were like 50-100 words snippets, nothing big. Just enough for someone to say: YAY!!! Sounds great! I wanna see more!!!

If it's an anon fest, (I assume you are working on hd_remix? me too) then I'm not providing snippets. I'm just going to update my wordcount and tell people how it's going like: I finally got this one scene done that was a bugger! or I decided on a title!!

It's not as fun as actually sharing the text. But we could share the text in ismith? if you wanted to? unless the person you are writing for is in our writing group. LOL. I don't mind posting a 'secret' check in post there.

Also - I'll see what I can do about timing...

student-ness pushes me in the direction of sunday start and evening check ins, as i am only awake at 9am on mondays and wednesdays when forced by the evil that is my remedies professor. but either way i'll try to manage!

No problem with late check ins! Just pop your head in when you wake up (lazy-bones!) and tell us what you've been up to in the last 24hrs.

Oh! and yes, you don't have to 'finish' a fic. But I'd suggest having a goal like '5k' or something, just so that you can measure your own success and be motivated. But that's just me. <3

Personally, I'd prefer it to start Sunday night simply because I'm traveling Monday morning and I won't land until Monday evening, plus I'll have lost three hours since I'm traveling from the west coast to the east.

As for check ins, I'd prefer evening simply because I'm a late riser and also because I'm gonna be trying to take morning classes. >_> But either way, I'll make it work! ^^
