This summary, though simple, is perfect. It represents exactly what this fic is about: an affair, simple, uncomplicated and stripped bare. It does not rip your heart out or make you ache for the injustice of it all (or at least it didn’t for me) it’s an infidelity fic that is long term and unfaltering and a simple fact of these characters lives. I know that is a huge squick for some people. If it’s not, then I recommend this read. I don’t think I’ve ever read an infidelity fic quite like this: hot and satisfying despite the inherit wrongness of infidelity.

This fic sizzles with UST. The plot was fascinating and I got a little brain orgasm from all the clever ways that Harry and Draco used their complimentary skills to work together. But the UST and banter was really what sold me on this one. Delish.

I want to do this justice, because it deserves it. So I’ll first direct you to melusinahp’s rec but be warned that there are spoilers in the comments because it’s the sort of fic you want to talk about. This fanfic is unique in that it feels like a book 8 – which I’m afraid has become a trope as far as comments go. ‘wow! This could be book 8!’ but this one... actually could (if JKR wanted Harry and Draco to have explicit sex in her book). But outside of the pairing, the characters and the plot are done perfectly in JKRs style. The humour is true to the book humour. The way Harry ‘notices things’ (how his friends are acting, insignificant details) and as a reader you know these things are clues and you tuck them away because they are clearly important and you’ll need them later. And mixed in with all the typical collection of characters moving through eight year with an odd mystery you have this slow burning ~thing~ going on between Draco and Harry. This wasn’t using fanfic to ‘fix’ canon, but using fanfic to continue canon... with H/D as a reasonable possibility.

The structure of this fic is really interesting, I liked starting mid affair and working backward through the guilt and denial to the very moment of that first spark.

This is a lovely 8th year fic that captures the confusion and disorientation of both Harry and Draco after the war. And how sometimes it’s easiest to understand each other when you are both lost.

I have such a soft spot for unusual careers fic. This is a fun read, with some great moments of Draco and Harry dancing around each other.

Such a lovely piece to kick off the fest! This artist has a gorgeous style, beautifully done and very romantic.

This is an AMAZINGLY WELL DONE adaptation of A Christmas Carol. And I say adaptation because, to me, it’s an important distinction from a ‘re-telling’. I love how this is not HP characters squished into Dickens’ tale but the concept of the tale adapted to the HP world. It has a great cast of characters and charming scenes from the past, present and future – but the underlying story is Harry and Draco’s love story, and how Draco must change himself in order to accept the love he is being offered. It’s really beautifully done, Charles Dickens would be proud though I bet the EXTREMELY HOT sex scenes would have made him blush.
