Loved this unique look at a bodyswap. It's a great character piece on Derek and what Derek might feel suddenly given the opportunity to live Stiles life instead of his own.

This is a classic "age-disparity teacher/student wrong, flithy, hot, omg... they are going to get caught what are they doing never stop" type fic. Peter is quite morally grey but more on the happy to seduce an underage boy, and the less serial killer type of ~grey. If this is your kink, it's a delicious read.

Fantastic Sheriff-centric fic. It's a clever, plotty fic told through Sheriff's POV as he finally has too much of Stiles lies and just can't accept them any longer. Wonderful read and packed full of Stilinki Feels.

It’s a great Lydia-centric piece, focusing on her decision to get the fuck out of Beacon Hills and leave behind the bruises and the mortal threats and be the fabulous person she is supposed to be. When she heads back into town I could FEEL her skin itch as she encountered one person after another who reminded her of all she left behind. Needless to say, the focu isn’t erica/lydia, but it’s a nice bonus. :)

This is a rare beast: a long Peter/Stiles fic! I don’t think this is fic for everyone, so I’ll give some warnings. The initial catalyst is Peter being given some sex pollen thing and basically forced to rape Stiles. It’s not an easy read, but both Peter and Stiles are victims at that point. However, during the rape, Peter (out of control) bites Stiles and voila! they are mated which comes with all kinds of wolfy-rules about such things. So the fic is basically about Stiles dealing with the fact that he is now mated to Peter against his will. Some of it made me very uncomfortable because I have issues with helplessness/forced submission, but I think the characterisation of both Peter and Stiles in the situation were well done. And Scott as well, he was the voice of the reader going: this is not right. The way the others ~accepted things was unsettling. Stiles does not give in easily although there is ‘no way out’ of the mating and such (reader just needs to accept that as that’s the entire premise of the fic) but in the end Stiles is pragmatic. Note: the author does slip in the occasional epithet and the word ‘cum’ … But I am reccing it because I did enjoy it even if it walked the line of some of my squicks, and I know many of you share my kinks. so. The best part for me is that the sex is always hot and Peter does do his best to make Stiles enjoy the sex that they are ~forced to have.

I think this was a nice plotty read, though is straddles an odd line for some readers when it comes to pairings. The focus of the fic is Stiles/Danny, but there are plenty of hints of Stiles/Derek. If anything, I would call it ‘Stiles/Derek pre-slash’. It has lots of lovely Stiles/Danny, so if you enjoy stiles/danny and as long as you don’t mind Sterek hovering in the shadows waiting to pounce, you should enjoy this one. (also warning for the ‘scott deserts stiles for isaac’ trope, which eventually works out. jsyk)

So the other day, I got the following question in a PM. Which is a really great question, and one I don’t really know the answer to.
First I offer this advice: How to search for rare pairs on AO3, now that I’ve conveniently posted it.
BUT it’s one of the few Teen Wolf rare pairs that I haven’t dived into yet. AND I know there are plenty of you out there that love this pairing and have knowledge to share with the class about how to find Scott/Isaac fics if you are just getting into this pairing.
Can we make this a little intro guide?

How to search for rare pairs on AO3
Apr. 10th, 2013 10:12 amAO3 does not have the option to indicate 'Primary pairing' vs 'Secondary pairing' (ie: those pairings that just happen to be in the fic, sitting in the background and mentioned once in passing.)
This becomes an issue particularly in a fandom like Teen Wolf where you have one pairing (Sterek) that dominates the fandom, and many (most?) Sterek fics have other pairings listed even if they are not the focus of the fic. Canon pairings like Allison/Scott, Lydia/Jackson, Erica/Boyd are often tagged but the focus of the fic is 100% Sterek.
So how do you find a fic that FOCUSES on Erica/Boyd when you look at the Erica/Boyd tag and get 90% Sterek fics with Erica/Boyd as background mentions?
Here's a little trick:
Of course, this may also exclude things you may be interested in, (ie: where Derek/Stiles are a side pairing), and include stuff you aren't interested in, (ie: where Erica/Boyd is still a minor pairing, but Sterek isn't the main pairing) but it at least cuts down on the overwhelming number of Sterek fics when looking for a non-Sterek focused fic.

I don’t want to give away too much but I will say that this premise is beautifully done, and Derek’s unreliable POV was perfectly written. One of my favourite fics to come out of this fandom.

It’s a great well rounded fic that takes a deeper look at an old trope and how it could potentially mess up two already vulnerable people.

I love this author’s work so this was an automatic click for me. I went into expecting threesome porn, instead i found a fantastic character study of Erica! WIN! This is a wonderful look at Erica’s POV from pre-bite through to the bitter end. (yes, I’m bitter). Anyway, great look at her new found strength, her disillusionment with Derek and the dynamic of three virtual strangers (her, Boyd and Isaac) all thrown into the chaos of Derek’s life.
Spot on canon characterisation in everyone.

I loved Danny in this fic! He is wonderful fleshed out (not like THAT) but there is wonderful depth to his character. I also really love that he doesn't 'get' Stiles. At all. Which I imagine it true for canon!Danny. It was great to see him finally seeing Stiles in a new light, but more than that, I loved the plot here. The way that Danny had to figure his way around all this werewolf stuff and the stupid politics of this group of teenagers that were all involved deeply in this crazy stuff but no one was talking to each other or helping each other. Great characterization all around.

It’s great to see each characters struggle with that question, particularly Stiles whose feelings about a ‘reformed’ Peter are very complicated. It’s a fascinating look at a much older more mature pack. Loved everything about it.

Woah. Peter in this fic. Holy shit. This is a backstory + future fic that has Peter as a sociopath even before the fire. The look into his mind is both disturbing and compelling. He is unapologetically immoral. And yet I couldn’t love him more. The fic has two chapters, the same basic story told in Peter POV, then in Stiles POV. But both POVs are worth the read to understand Stiles motivation as well.

This isn’t a fic for everyone, first: Stiles is underage in this fic. The fic begins with Stiles at 13, nothing sexual occurs until he is 14. Still, he is heavily under Peter’s influence from a young age. Peter here is devious and cruel, completely focused on getting revenge on Kate for the fire. The canon divergence occurs because Stiles knows the Hales ahead of time. Peter doesn’t fall into a coma instead he sees Stiles as a perfect tool to facilitate his revenge.
If I had one complaint it might be that Stiles is a bit too bad-ass for his age and to be completely in character (even with all the tragedy in his life) HOWEVER being able to suspend my disbelief of that actually made the fic better because... idek... it saved it from being too realistic? It let all the events that happened (Peter’s manipulation of Stiles and Stiles manipulation of Peter) become palatable in its insanity. Don’t get me wrong it’s not crack. It’s more the ott immorality of a gangster movie? Best comparison I can think of. Check your morals at the door with this fic.
The sex is brilliantly hot and wrong and hits all the right underage kink buttons, never dipping into my squicks. And the psychology behind Peter’s shaping of Stiles into a weapon is just fabulous, as is the fact that Peter is not infallible. Brilliant read if this is your type of fic.

I’ve always loved Kate for the pleasure she takes in the most carnal acts. This fic slips neatly into S1 canon with Derek captured and Scott trying to free him, getting captured as well. Kate takes full advantage of the situation. Scott is wonderful here, very righteous and as in canon, never wanting anyone hurt or killed and Kate uses that weakness to get exactly what she wants. It’s non-con (ie: Kate forces Derek/Scott) but it’s the sort of non-con that leaves a mess of embarrassment and guilt, but as a reader I didn’t leave me feeling wrecked like some non-con can.
