Arthur as the Bear by [livejournal.com profile] goss [WS]
LOVE the way the background and foreground work together to make it look like the bear is sort of hugging Arthur. Very nicely done.

[FIC]
A Study in Natural Philosophy by Mad_Maudlin Merlin/Arthur [PG-13](13k)
Summary: It wasn't all that unusual for people to hide their daemons; Merlin, however, seems to be taking it a little far.
This is an old fic, I assume written post-S1??? But stumbled on it last night and I fell in love with the idea that every human in this AU had a daemon (basically like a familiar, an animal they were linked to, like it was a part of them). It’s a fascinating AU, loved seeing everyone’s daemon and what it said about their personalities. And loved that Merlin had to hide his familiar because it would say too much.

The Weight of Truth by [livejournal.com profile] giselleslash Merlin/Arthur [PG](2k)
Summary: It is the eve of Agravaine’s execution and Merlin can’t bear the thought of one more person lying to Arthur.
So... this is how S4 should have ended. *cough* A short little reveal fic, but well written character study of both Merlin and Arthur while Arthur deals with hurt of Agravaine’s betrayal.

Dirty Stories by Oliver Merlin/Arthur, Arthur/Uther(fantasy) [NC-17](1.4k)
Summary: Arthur tells his best friend dirty stories at night.
Filthy, filthy, filthy. Underage, incest (but the incest is only Arthur fantasizing about his father. So.) Loved it. A simple little PWP I stumble on, but damn Arthur making up stories about his father just to turn on Merlin was just hot. The story hits that first sexual exploration kink very nicely.

rabbit blood by 875857 Merlin/Arthur [PG](2k)
Summary: On Merlin's twenty-first birthday, he tells Arthur about his magic.
Another short little reveal fic. A lovely look at how Merlin gathers the courage.

The only good thing about the lack of reveal in canon is the endless possibilities for reveal fic. :D

Random thoughts: Since the end of S4 I have been living in the land of Modern AUs and Canon AUs. I have this queasy feeling in my gut every time S5 gets mentioned, like I will never again want to read a fic based in current canon. :/

Have I ever mentioned that I love your brain? Every little kink & quirk hidden in all those little folds of that gray stuff, I just adore!

Great recs, as always!

It's a good time to live in canon AU land when there is such an awesome canon AU that gets updated every day (I'm sure you know which one I'm talking about). ^_^

The Arthur (bear) fanart is on my to rec list too. The concept really fits the character and I can't stop staring at Athur's tattoos.

ahahhaa... yes I do.

actually, I could use an update of that right about now... *refreshes tab* *pouts*

It's very fortunate that the possibilities for canon aus and modern au are ENDLESS. or i might start to worry.

and yes, Arthur and the bear tattoos live in my imagination now, forever!

I'd never read "A Study in Natural Philosophy." It was delightful. Now I want an Ambrosius or Amaranth of my very own.

Just read A study in Natural Philosophy, it was great. Was wondering of you've read His Dark Materials? It's where the idea of daemons (or at least this particular brand of them) comes from. It's just, you can't really tell from your rec if you have or not, and they are absolutely awesome books and everyone should read them. My heart flutters just thinking about them. They feature gay angels and armored polar bears and an awesome female protagonist. (Uh the first was also recently made into a major motion picture, which you can kinda just ignore. I mean, it was ok, but it had nothing on the books.)

btw, I feel I should take the time to let you know how awesome you and your recs are. I am such a lurker- seriously, /major lurker/- and have only recently began using these commenty box things, so have probably never told you before how much I appreciate your recs. *nods sincerely to convey sincerity*. Seriously, I think I can pretty much blame you for getting me into Merlin fandom, all those years (god, has it really been years?) ago. So yeah. Incoherent babbling over. Thank you is what I wanted to say, I guess. And rec on...? XD

I have read His Dark Materials. And was completely unaware that this idea was based on anything. :)

I really love the idea though. Very cool. I'll have to check out that book something. Thanks for letting me know.

I'm so happy you are occasionally delurking! Lots of fun and sillyness to be had around here. And YAY!!! so glad you into Merlin! *preens* :DDD

And rec on...?

ha! I shall! ;)

I found Natural Philosophy last night too! I went to leave my Kudos and saw your name up there at the top!

Have you read Arthur and the Real Boy? I found that today - it's the one where Merlin works in a second hand book/record shop and Arthur is a jock desperate to impress him. I really adored it.
