*clings to laptop*

It's good to be back after being mostly off-line for 3 days. But I did get the opportunity to make breakfast for my mom on Mother's Day and, being 30-something and living 3hrs from her, that opportunity doesn't happen very often. :)

Hope you guys had a lovely weekend.

eta: Also - funny story... so my Dad (who is 83) forgot his book and absolutely cannot sleep without reading first. So he's going through my bookself for books with big enough font for him to read. He chooses [livejournal.com profile] libby_drew's Great Restorations. I (naturally) leap over the couch to say (screech): 'NOT THAT ONE!!'

He settled on The Demon's Covenant by Sarah Rees Brennan [which I purchased ages ago and have yet to read, if you are wondering what I thought].

Uhm... that's the second book in that series too. :D

Demon's Lexicon is first, jsyk, in case you didn't.

I didn't have the first (which I did actually read, and enjoyed) because I had passed it on to my sis.

So my poor Dad had to read the second book of the series in a genre he never reads. LOL. But at least it had no explicit m/m sex which would have been a bit too much for him, I think. :/

*lol* I know there is a message in the fact that your dad was instantly drawn to Libby's slashy porn because of the big print. ;)

That is too funny. I have my homoerotica/romance in a totally different book shelf.

I have the Demons Lexicon and have yet to read it. I plan on it, I just haven't had the time. I'm stuck on Game of Thrones.

From: [identity profile] marguerite-26.livejournal.com
It's the only one I have out because the cover/title doesn't LOOK like homoerotica (well, not if you aren't looking for it. *g*)

I've read 'meh' review on the sequel and it's from the POV of my least fav character so I just haven't bother to read. But I liked the first one well enough. :)

Hmm... I'm not sure. Sometimes I think he's 83!!! and really fragile and not in great health. And then I remember he was a sailor for 25 yrs. old == naive. heh.

Hee! My copies of Libby's books are in a drawer in my room - just in case. Glad you rescued it. ;D *pets your dad*

I have yet to read TDC too, though I have started it a couple of times. I don't know why, but I can't seem to get past the cover. *shudders* Weird, because I really enjoyed the first book. I must get to it this summer. I'll probably LOVE IT and kick myself for putting it off for so long. *nods*

hee! No one else in my family has any interest in books so I never think that anyone will pick soemthing from there! *meep*

For some reason the POV is really putting me off TDC. I wasn't a fan of Mae in TDL so I haven't even given in it a fair chance. :/

HIGHEST SHELF, SECOND (i.e., back) ROW! Parents are much too curious. Though mine get distracted by the labels on the shelves themselves and then shy away bcs most books are in other languages...

Ha, ha! I used to live in fear of one of my parents finding one of *those* books of mine, so even after I was sure I'd hidden them all away prior to a visit, I'd make hubby double check ;)

Now I have a Kindle, with a password ;) - I highly recommend it!

I don't have many. Like, maybe two. I do all my other reading on-line or on-paper (and those are locked away) But that book was special, and signed by the author so I hate to hide it! Will now though. *g*

LOL, didn't your parents hide books from you when you were a kid? If yes, you should know to tuck the risque books behind books with subjects people are unlikely to find interesting, like nutrition -- or, in your dad's case, books with tiny font ;-)

My mom wanted to go to the Museum of Anthropology (http://www.moa.ubc.ca/) for Mother's Day, so that's what we did. Noticed lots of other mother/daughter pairs there, and it was interesting to see the resemblances and interactions.

Know what you mean about the naughty-book-near-miss! My sister asked about my Zero at the Bone (http://www.dreamspinnerpress.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=989) that I left lying around and there was a very slick *nothing to see here whistle* while surreptitiously moving it out of sight. Don't think she noticed?

Didn't get to see my Mum this Mother's Day - phone calls just aren't the same :(

oh, that book looks interesting! Would you recommend it? Also - I like the cover! Not many m/m books have covers that really appeal to me. I can see why your sister asked about it. LOL.

Sorry about missing your mom! But at least you remembered to call! *gives you gold star*
