the randomness of my brain...

Have you ever thought of taking one basic prompt and seeing how different people would write the same scene for various pairings? I was just replying to some comments to In Hiding and thinking about how I've always wanted to write an 'under the table' fic. (maggie fantasy number 374 *blushes*)
But I've 'written' that fic in my head a million times with a ton of different pairings. they are all a bit different (I think it started out as a Draco/Hermione fantasy, tbh). In my mind it was always fun to take that scene and make it work for different pairings. (OMG! I just realised that I plagerised myself as I wrote a Harry/Scorp already with that scene and FORGOT. GAH!!! I'm such a loser).
ANYWAY.
What I was thinking is: would anyone be interested in doing a writing experiment like that? Like... I throw out one very simple prompt like - 'one person under the table, the other person has semi-public orgasm' (only not that one - as I've already done it... twice *headdesk*) but something like that. And then open it up for people to comment and say: I'll write draco/harry!!! I'll write Scorpius/Rose!!! I'll write Snape/Ron (wot?)
You get it?
Then it's all just comment porn with the same scene and tons of different pairings, with different authors approaches and styles... (or if people write something more than comment porn it's great too...
Am I crazy?

Date: 2010-07-06 12:18 am (UTC)I'm still thinking on how it might work. I'd like an prompt that could easily be written as porn (for those who find that easiest) but certainly could be written as non-porn. :/
*ponders more*

I did Kingsley/Narcissa under the table a long time ago. LOL
I'll write Snape/Ron (wot?) *dies*
Very cool idea. Sounds like fun.

*hugs you*

Date: 2010-07-06 12:36 am (UTC)I totally need to THINK HARD about a prompt that would work.
I need something simple and basic. OH! I think I've thought of something. :D
I hope to post soon.

Date: 2010-07-06 12:37 pm (UTC)I've done it. :D I think my prompt is not as 'specific' as I originally intended, but it allows for many different pairings and fandoms and directions to take the fic.
We'll see how it all goes. should be fun. *pokes you to play*

Date: 2010-07-06 02:08 pm (UTC)I have, actually! Although not necessarily different pairings. I read this amazing fic in Torchwood fandom eons ago, I think the premise was something like "Ianto finally gets up the nerve to tell Jack he wants to top" -- which, for this pairing/fandom is a fairly big deal, I take it; no one writes top!Ianto? IDK -- and it was a fantastic fic, and I guess the author and just two or three of her friends had each tried their hand at that premise, to see how their results would compare. I always thought that would be fun to try! But I like your idea too. *nod*
*runs off to check on next post* :)

Oh! and 'dropping out' is no big deal, so feel free to claim a pairing and if you write you write and if not, that's fine. :D
