Have you ever thought of taking one basic prompt and seeing how different people would write the same scene for various pairings?
I have, actually! Although not necessarily different pairings. I read this amazing fic in Torchwood fandom eons ago, I think the premise was something like "Ianto finally gets up the nerve to tell Jack he wants to top" -- which, for this pairing/fandom is a fairly big deal, I take it; no one writes top!Ianto? IDK -- and it was a fantastic fic, and I guess the author and just two or three of her friends had each tried their hand at that premise, to see how their results would compare. I always thought that would be fun to try! But I like your idea too. *nod*
