Cross Gen Fest Recs – Post V
Nov. 2nd, 2008 01:21 pmThis is it! The last rec post for the
hp_cross_fest. It’s been a blast. Go read and be sure to catch up on your comments! There are plenty of great fics out there that haven’t received much feedback. Be sure to squeeze in time for comments. All my past recs for this fest are HERE
I think this will be it for regularly posted recs from me for a while. I really need to spend November writing and clearing my plate for all the holiday fest reading. When December rolls around I’ll be back doing this for
hd_holidays,
hp_yule_balls and
harry_holidays.
Onto the fest recs:
Cross Gen Fest Recs – Post V
I refuse to hide this one behind a cut. :D
Possession of the Heart ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Recipient: marguerite_26 (MINE!! ALL MINE!!!!)
Rating: NC-17
Pairing(s): Harry/Scorpius (Harry/Ginny Harry/OC OC/Scorpius)
Summary: Harry loves his life and would never want it to change. But when violence upsets the very foundations of his world, he finds himself turning to the one person whose heart he's protected from the start.
Warning(s): Character Death (not Harry Scorpius Draco), Violence
Word Count: 51,500
I admit that my assigning of hearts is a little whimsical, but I don’t give out four ♥s lightly. This fic goes blew my friggin’ mind and I’m not just saying that because it is MINE, ALL MINE! The slow, sure build of the Harry/Scorpius relationship gave this fic such depth. Although the fic is huge, it never dragged. The fic begins when Harry meets Scorpius at age 11, and when there is an instant bond formed and I knew immediately it was a strong foundation for a really caring relationship that had a wonderful ‘meant to be’ feel. Every character in this fic was well developed and three dimensional and in-character. The voices, the reactions were spot-on with the people I loved/hated in canon. The plot was fascinating, EPIC. The relationships between the characters was intriguing, the next gen kids were so realistic. The sex was HAWT. This is simply one of the best fics I’ve read and, for me, it raised the bar for what cross_nextgen can be.
