Stiles stood, trembling - his knees weak. He tried to run and collapsed, his bad leg failing him once again. Derek caught him. "Turn it off," he said, his voice unmistakably a growl.

The water continued leaking from the loose faucet, and all Stiles heard was Erica's blood against the concrete. Drip. Drop. Drip. Drop. Drip. Drop. Drip.

This fic is not an easy read. It deals with grief and character death. Erica is killed by the Alpha Pack in front of Stiles after they both suffer through days of torture. The author doesn’t pull any punches on details, but this is a beautiful fic, dealing with post-trauma healing. The fic begins with Stiles' rescue and the focus is him picking up the pieces of his life and his sanity after what he went through. Even if you have to skim the extra gritty bits, it’s really worth the read. Great characterisations all around, and a special shout out for some great Boyd moments.

I have a theme today! Did you notice? TEEN WOLF RARE PAIRS.
So the other day, I got the following question in a PM. Which is a really great question, and one I don’t really know the answer to.

i wanted some change and i was curious about the scott/isaac pairing. i see them a lot as a side pairing but i couldn't find fic with them as the main pairing? one or two maybe. do you have some rec for me? or if you don't like that pairing, know where to look? - mein_angel

First I offer this advice: How to search for rare pairs on AO3, now that I’ve conveniently posted it.

BUT it’s one of the few Teen Wolf rare pairs that I haven’t dived into yet. AND I know there are plenty of you out there that love this pairing and have knowledge to share with the class about how to find Scott/Isaac fics if you are just getting into this pairing.

Can we make this a little intro guide?

I AM SO FUCKING THERE.

If you aren't sure what the hell this is, and frankly I GET THAT because it's not obvious unless you've participated in Merlin fandom's pornathon... It is an awesome writing challenge, very social and team oriented and not really very competitive. Mostly it's just LOTSA PORN == EVERYONE WINS.

You are split into teams, then given a writing challenge a week for 6 weeks. The prompt could be like: fuck or die! And you have a week(ish) to turn in 500-750 word fic with that theme. (any pairing!!! unless the challenge specifies otherwise. Like sometimes a prompt might be rare pairs or threesomes something).

BUT BASICALLY ITS AWESOME.

The tight timeline and the fact that you need to submit ~something to get your participation points and it's anon often means you are thinking outside the box and the end result is that there's a lot of lulz but also GEMS. Every week there are standout fics that make you go: FUCK YEAH.

There are still fics I think back on and love from previous p-thon years even tho they are all < 750 words, there was always some serious brilliance. THIS IS WHY I LOVE THIS TYPE OF CHALLENGE.

Also - the whole team thing is super cool without being super competitive. You can encourage each other to write (and in this challenge DRAW for you artists out there) a little something every week while getting to know each other.

anyway. just wanted to give you my 2 cents if any of you hadn't heard of this or were one the fence as to whether or not to do it.

It's a bit of a commitment. (Please don't be the person that signs up and never ever shows up) But if you want to stretch your writing/drawing talents in this new fandom and meet some pervy people this is any awesome way to do it.

A couple people have ask which teen wolf wips are my favs atm.

A wee bit of meta for this cloudy Thursday morning.

Any fan of both the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and MTV’s Teen Wolf knows that Jeff Davis was highly influenced by the former. He’s mentioned it in interviews and the parallels are pretty obvious in the basic premise of the show: high school kid gets unwillingly dragged into the world of the supernatural and tries to continue living his regular high school life but the threats to himself and those he cares about make it impossible.

What struck me most when I started watching though, was how the similarities went beyond the premise to way TW created a diverse cast ensemble so similar to the one that made the BtVS universe tick. It is one of my favourite things about the TW, ranked just beneath Beacon Hills’ multitude of pretty people and shortage of shirts.

So Teen Wolf’s ensemble rocks. This is news to no one.

I was having a conversation yesterday on Twitter about who is who? I have opinions on this (way more than can fit in 140 characters). You may not agree with my choices. They aren’t necessarily perfect matches. Perfect matches are impossible as they are clearly different shows and clearly distinct characters. But the process of matching (and justifying it in my head) was fun. Also who a character is in season 1 of a series isn’t who they are for the rest of the series. So this is focused on the core of the character, who they were introduced to us as, and not necessarily who they become as time goes on.
