If you look at the profile and the rules you might see some conflicting info about what is allowed at the comm because the mods is just getting things figured out, but they just confirmed:

This community will allow all pairings (apart from Sterek), OT3s, and moresomes.

Which is basically AWESOME. And so needed in this fandom. As much as I love Sterek, we need a place for non-sterek work to not feel overwhelmed and AO3 is not that place.

Go. Join. Support your fellow rare pair lovers. We need each other. Comms like this die a quick death without enthusiasm and support.

And especially for this, because MAN, if this comm was created and it had shitty rules, I'd be so pissed. Like 'No Lydia/Peter because they are technically canon' or something crazy. Or even 'No Threesome if it includes Sterek'. But the current rule of everyone that doesn't focus on Sterek is just AWESOME.

And FESTS! and Yeah... I really really hope this fosters a small space where people who don't enjoy Sterek (or enjoy Sterek but also so many other pairings) can find a little home where they don't feel like second class citizens.

Same, same, same! I was a tiny bit disheartened yesterday when I saw some of the excluded pairings, but then that lovely poll went up and the mod was open to suggestion and feedback and actually took it under consideration and broadened the scope of allowed pairings (for now). The whole thing just makes me so happy!

As I've told you, I'm a little burnt out on Sterek and while I still like the pairing, I'm eager for more variety, so I'm super hopeful this turns into a nice little safe haven for people who enjoy all the other potentially awesome ships in the fandom.

I read A LOT. and Sterek is so easy to find and sooooo many long plotty fics... it's easy. So I have to make an effort to find anything non-sterek.

And sometimes I'm lazy. :/

YES! I'm in the same boat. I'm glad I only stumbled on it after that decision was made because I would have been all sad yesterday thinking anything that was classed as a canon pairing didn't qualify.

Oh, thanks for passing that news on! I saw it in passing yesterday (I think, I was up to my ears in recording the last bits of my podbang and only skimming) but it looked like there were going to be lots of pairings excluded. I was a bit worried it was going to turn into one of those special 'arbitrary pairings that the mod feels like reading' comms. I'm so glad I was wrong about that!

I was thrilled to see that the mod decided to open things up a bit more. I really don't think this fandom can claim 4 or 5 popular ships. Those other ships are often just background characters/subplots.

Not that I will be submitting TW stories any time soon.

But I'm curious, so I'll ask - can you clarify - by no STEREK - do they accept sterek as a secondary pairing? Like a Danny/Jackson fic with Stiles and Derek dancing around each other as a background subplot? Or would the presence of sterek mean that a good Danny/Jackson story couldn't be posted there?

Also, would Danny/Derek/Stiles be acceptable? Or possibly, depending on the story's focal point? Or not at all?

I just had all sorts of confusion from the way the restriction was worded. I'm glad I didn't see the original post - I have no idea how you tell if something is canon or not. I still haven't figured out if Erica hangs with Isaac or Boyd more in canon, I'm not observant that way. I wouldn't have pegged Lydia/Peter as canon pairing.

From what I understand, YES! If the rare pair is the focus of the fic, background sterek is fine.

and any threesome with sterek+1 is fine as long as it's not Sterek (only) focused.

Thanks for passing on the news! I had watched the comm yesterday, but then stopped when I realized most of the pairings I'd enjoy reading/writing weren't considered rare. I will now run off to rectify my actions. :D
