WIPS - WTF?

I have a doctor’s appointment today. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Feels like I’ve been barely functional since November and really it’s time to just get better now. People here are all like ‘You should have gotten the flu shot!’ WELL I caught the flu before the flu shot clinics opened and haven’t been able to shake it. so fuck off. I really wish I had the energy to take down my christmas decorations tho. :(

ANYWAY.

I make odd choices when I’m sick. Somehow yesterday I made the choice to start reading WIPs. I have no idea WHY. I hate WIPs. I get too invested in stories and it makes me insane to stop and know there is no answer to ‘what happens next’ until the author at some random date (or possibly NEVER) decides to post again. And then that chapter might be 500 words of filler and I feel worse than I did before. And yet... and started WIP after WIP yesterday. I blame it on feeling sorry for myself. Like when you eat an entire bag of Halloween sized Mars bars even though you know you’ll regret it.

So. Here are the WIPs that are now eating my brain.

Derek’s doppelganger seduces Stiles and Stiles asks the real Derek out on a date. Derek has no clue what he’s talking about and they soon discover that there is an incubus like creature stalking Beacon Hills.

These are not really ~recs... I really dislike reccing WIPs because well... haven't we all finished a fic and wanted to take back that kudos we left on chapter 3???? ._. so you know... so... grain of salt and all that.

The house never burned. The pack is strong. Derek will never need to be the alpha, and his sister is a troll. (Actually, most of his family is like that.)
Derek is an apprentice tattoo artist, and Stiles isn't old enough to get ink of his own yet. But that doesn't stop him from being interesting...
(Story will update weekly, on Mondays, up until it catches up with my buffer.)

I don't know about Dangerous Desires or Park Edifice, but the other fics you mention get updated pretty regularly. Prince Among Wolves gets updated at least once a week.

I tried to pick only fics that had a good 'chapters posted/chapter total' ratio. And author's notes that said: 'I post every third day' or whatever.

Park Edifice has a long way to go, but I know that author writes a lot of wips and finishes them fairly quickly so I was confident to pick that one up.

Wishing you the best of luck with the doctor! I was just saying this morning that I finally feel energetic enough to take down the Christmas things.

And oh dear. WIPs are the bane of my existence and I try to avoid them at all costs. There are a few that I was reading that seem to have evaporated into the ether, never to be heard from again. *epic sadface*

However, I am enjoying The Skies Above Are Blue (http://archiveofourown.org/works/538531) by Greensilver. Summary: Derek is a wedding DJ. Stiles just happens to go to a lot of weddings.
It's an all-human AU, and is both funny and heartfelt. The author has utilized the entire cast of characters in building this world, too, which I enjoy immensely. It's long, ~80k with two chapters left to post, but it hasn't dragged at all for me while reading (though I've been reading as a WIP from the start).

I have a few of yours on my TBR for when they're complete. For now, I'm going to try to avoid starting any new ones. Except maybe eldee's because I can't resist fake boyfriends! :)

Oh no wips? That is something I always try no to do, however I found out doing it often with Avenger fandom and until now I haven't been dissapinted. hopefully it will continue on the same way :)

The WiP that started the fall for me (and it's still one of my top favourite TW fics even after so many months of binging) is His Password is Also Derek (http://archiveofourown.org/works/452442) (it's being updated at a slower pace at the moment but the author promises she'll finish it). Another fave is bunny rabbits are not the only food group! (http://archiveofourown.org/works/405996) (if it's going to be abandoned I'm throwing myself off a cliff). I don't read wip, but I LOVE Prince Among Wolfs! Is honestly one of my favorite stories. I simply adore Andy and Ollie and the part where Derek in the dress and when Andy shouted "daddy loves me" I was frying so hard that ppl were laughing. Is such a moving, funny, angst and lovely story that I honestly can't wait for the chapters to come.

Another wip I'm reading is Last to know, and a human guide to alpha reproduction (which hasn't been update in a while)

I too am following Indelible marks and Prince among Wolves. I love them both. The Hale family in the first one is just killer. I will have to look at my wip bookmarks on my Kindle to let you know what others I am following.

Over the years I've been following too many Merlin WIPs that were never finished (*sobsobsob*), in TW fandom I avoid them like the plague now.
I've bookmarked/subscribed to most of the WIPs you've listed here (and added subscriptions for those I hadn't seen yet \0/) and will read them once they're finished but I didn't/won't start reading any of them while they're still a WIP.

However, I'm desperately waiting for the last part of a Derek/Stiles mpreg fic series of supposed stand-alone parts that is in fact a WIP though (why did I find it/started reading before it was finished? *cries*). The author updates other series/new stories quite regularly but hasn't updated that one in a while. The waiting is killing me. >.

I even tag them Wip [and I've got a tag bundle for unfinished fic]. [The first few listed are always marked To Read, the real recs come a little further down. I can't pretend that I read as much as I once did. :/

As a rule I don't read WIPS -- I read fast, and then I'm left hanging, and sometimes the stories don't get finished, and and and AUGH. It's better all around that I don't get started.

Unfortunately, Teen Wolf seems rife with WIPS. Bleh. This wouldn't even be a problem except you rec the really good stuff, and so now I'm going to have to scowl in your direction because I KNOW I'm going to end up reading these. Hmph.

I do hope you start feeling better very soon, though. I've been sick since October -- stupid Shingles just are NOT going away, and my asthma is still giving me trouble -- so I know how you feel :( *sends lots of positive-health vibes your way*
