The one in which Stiles has lived to (legal) adulthood and, along the way, become a bit of a badass himself.

Friday night on twitter there were 4 recs of this on my timeline in a matter of a few hours. Naturally, I had to start reading it, even though it was already midnight. I regret nothing. It was a fantastic read. Actually, I really wanted to read it again. This is an older, more mature Stiles. Hot and BAMF, and still recognizably canon!Stiles. The majority of the fic is centered around Stiles and his Dad who are both taken hostage, and slowly Sheriff catches glimpse of a side of his son that he’s never seen, how well he handles himself in a crisis. (I love that shit) and peppered throughout the hostage situation is Stiles' backstory and his relationship with Derek.

Summary: In which Stiles Stilinski has a werewolf for a best friend, a support group for that, hot chocolate with Lydia Martin and Danny Mahealani every Thursday evening, and an extremely anticlimactic coming out experience.

This is a humans are awesome fic. And they are. I love the dynamic that Stiles, Danny, Lydia and Allison have in this without the outside influence of the wolves, even though their reason for need to bond is to help each other deal/share information about the wolves in their lives. Danny is a fun, quirky, quiet character here as he is in canon. I felt their relationship was a sweet and real slowburn.

The Adventures of Sourwolf and the Sheriff by ecarian

Summary: Derek gets kidnapped. He wakes up in the cave with the wrong Stilinski.

Derek gets kidnapped and Sheriff accidentally gets taken along with him. I love these two together, and Sheriff asks such great questions and Derek is so sincere in his respect of him. There is implied Derek/Stiles, but it’s mostly a charming gen piece about a crisis situation and two great characters playing off each other perfectly.

Love The Adventures of Sourwolf and the Sheriff. Have you ever come across any Derek/Sheriff or stories where Derek has an unrequited crush on the Sheriff? I find I have a bit of a hankering for that pairing of late.

Thanks! I've been having lots of thoughts that perhaps Derek's epic emotional, romantic, and sexual issues might not be well served by being in a relationship with a teenager. Sadly going through the known adult options in Beacon Hills doesn't leave a lot of healthy options either.

As usual you have recc'd my absolute favourites, I was planning to rec Hide a life to you actually, it is one of the most amazing I have read recently. I adore BAMF!Stiiles if it is done right (even if, like powerful!Harry it probably isn't in keeping with canon, it is such fun!). Also, I have discovered, Sheriff - Stiles feels is my absolute kryptonite.

I haven't read the Danny/Stiles one, but I will now :)

YAY! glad I'm reccing your favourites. :) BAMF!Stiles, like powerful!Harry wins me over every time when it's like this. I mean... yeah, Stiles is a bit of stretch, but within the realm of possibility. He had a few years to justify his cool head, cool weapon and fight training, so it was all within reason. If this was set S3, I would been like wtf? :)
