Wow, that's fantastic! Thanks for the rec <3 I am making icons right now when I should be writing. Just got finished rewatching the episode and while I can't say it was 100% brilliant (what Merlin episode ever is?) I did really like it as a whole. Were there any particular !!! or ??? moments for you?

I adore corking and when she does Merlin art I just flail in happiness. :D

I loved the juggling! Loved all the tender moments and the humourous moments between Merlin and Arthur. They definitely deliver on the bit that works best for them (ie: selling the bromance). Also I got glove!kink, shared warmth!kink, trapped in a net together!!!!!!!!!!!! and tender fireside moments. So um... plot? other characters? LOL.

But Morgana and her dozens of shirtless slaves ... I can't even... I mean YOU HAVE MAGIC. Find the fucking think WITHOUT PICKAXES. >.> Though, if I had magic and wanted to use it for good, I would make all the round table hotties be sweaty and naked too. SO.

Merlin not using magic to get out of the net? LAME.

Gwen... I loved Angel's deliver on the 'sentenced to death' scene. I think she was believable in her ~my husband might be dead and it's your fault~ heaving bosom.

but it was entirely Merlin and Arthur's love that carried this episode for me. I have very low expectations for this season so I'm trying not to focus on anything remotely plot related.

XD Sorry I had to laugh because I honestly try not to focus on the plot for this show either. I adore it, that's undeniable but the plot writing has always been the weakest thing about this show. Logic doesn't even get a look-in. It's all emotions and the boys can deliver emotions like no-one's business.

Morgana not using magic at all is lame. She doesn't use it to fight the battle or look for the fugitives either, let alone searching for the hidden relic beneath her castle. As for relying on spies...didn't her sister teach her how to scry before she died? Oh that's right, Morgause only did that the first time we saw her, then she seemed to forget how.

For a show that's supposed to be centered around a warlock, they woefully under-use magic in all aspects of the story-telling.

Yeah, I had to respect steely-eyed Gwen here. I haven't liked her in several seasons so it was nice to see.

It was all about the M/A love for me as well. If those two ever stop eye-sexin each other, I am going elsewhere!

ARTHUR'S HAIR. MY HEART. ♥

I've seen the episode three times (the first time with Ing, the second time with my boyfriend and the third time with my best friends because none of us have schedules that leave us all free at the same time ~ugh~) and I get more and more excited for this season with every watch! Having seen a decent number of spoilers, I'll be exciting to see how it all comes together!

I read on tumblr that a ton of people thought Gwen was too cruel but, idk, I thought she filled the role well. She was betrayed/feeling worried/proving that she was Queen. Someone even related her to Uther in the sense that she sentenced her to death but, tbqh, I don't think that they were anything alike. Gwen gave the girl a chance, asked for the truth and heard her out but, at the end of the day, Sefa had a ton of people killed and Camelot is already down a number of knights so... Good on Gwen for filling her role in Arthur's absence, I think! ♥

That interview was adorable! I've never heard of Alex but his excitement is catching and I'm looking forward to Mordred and his evil plans. And he mentioned Mordred/Morgana fanfiction :)

No. He could not! He's so utterly besotted with his show and castmates in this... and also, I think he's been reading fan fiction with him, Kate, and Colin if you ask me. He really does like the chemistry between those three characters. :)

I love that interview. He's clearly a fan of the show. Follow him on twitter actually brings some fun back into Merlin just by how excited he is about it.

Spoilers for 5.1 -- episode discussion

I think Merlin is rather upset with Arthur not 'seeing' him, and I think that might be huge this season. Merlin has always wanted to be able to tell Arthur about himself and here we see it, THREE years later and he hasn't been able to share his secret. Truthfully, I don't think Merlin's magic will ever be revealed to Arthur, and how tragic is that?

Also Arthur says about his knights that he's got to go find them, but that if Merlin disappeared he wouldn't... and while I don't want to believe that statement is a true one, and I hope that its just him joking with Merlin, I think that its foreshadowing something. We know from the episode with the Crystal Cave that Merlin will get trapped and I believe that it will happen sometime before Arthur faces Mordred in his last battle, that's why we don't see Merlin in the vision he got from the Druid, because he's not there... and even Kilgharrah says that its up to Merlin alone to protect Arthur.
