LOLLLLLLZ. You're so not crazy. This poll, which meant absolutely nothing to me until today, is ruining my life. I don't know why I care so much, but it just hurts to see all of my faithful and long-standing ships overhauled by a newbie. Interestingly, I think many of those who ship Sterek and M/A are voting Sterek so that JD makes the pairing canon. But I have my doubts the results of this poll will have any effect on that at all; I'm sure JD has already decided one way or the other by now. And so people should go with their hearts and vote for the boys who have proven their love for each other again and again throughout four seasons of sexual tension and awesome.

Now how's that for a crazy post?

I have my serious doubts too. Not because it's m/m, but because of the age difference/underage thing. Unless they age down Derek from the way they presented him, I don't see canon in this pairings future.

I am one of those people who enjoys TW but is not obsessed with it. If Sterek does become canon, I would only want it to be a gradual, realistic development, but this will be hard to do and do well for the reason you've outlined above, and also because the characters are, as of now, not exactly fond of one another. I read some spoilers for season 3 that also mentioned Stiles' continued obsession with Lydia. So idk... people are very happy and eager and I'm not trying to be a downer or a troll... I just don't have as optimistic a view as most within the TW fandom. And the fact is that forcing a pairing if it is not a gradual or natural progression could very well ruin it, instead of strengthening it.

THIS! I truly think Sterek could work. And part of my would love to see it because the chemistry really is ~there~

But a) I don't want it to EAT the show (ie: dominate the plot and all the other characters. as it is so many people watch the show ONLY for sterek and fastforward through all the 'other bits' D: b) I don't want them to make me hate sterek. Nothing turns me off faster than taking away all that I love about a character in order to make them work in a love interest relationship. D:

There is much much much potential to make Sterek a multi-season build, with a growth of a strong (yet complicated) friendship as a foundation.

Also, I don't like that fans think they can push jeff into this. makes me uncomfortable. *backs away slowly from crumbling fourth wall*

Oh, ITA. When Derek/Stiles have scenes together (rare as they are), there is definitely chemistry between them that could be exploited as a friendship or potential romance, or both. I don't think we've seen enough of them together, though, to know which of those things would work, because so far their interactions have been very one-dimensional. So, yeah, I'm interested in watching if the show does work to develop both characters while not taking away from the rest of the ensemble, nor making the relationship the focus at the expense of either S/D. (though honestly, derek is so little developed at this juncture they're going to have to do a LOT more work to show what kind of character he truly is.) In any case, there is way too much pressuring of TBTB by the fandom imo, which both sets up the possibility of bitter disappointment in fans and also has the potential of pushing forward a relationship without giving it proper thought. *wipes brow*
