I watched the movie Stranger than Fiction last night and am now narrating my own life. Out loud. As I make myself coffee. As i spread cream cheese on my bagel. As my children slowly drive me mad. My husband wants to kill me but i am amused.

Last day of summer vacation.

Thank fuck.

That sounds like a fascinating movie. Voice-over all. :)

This is Vaysh.

Maggie opened her email. The flutter of excitement as she realized she,d been replied to turned to worry as she saw the user id.

Had she been publicly replying to herself? Surely not! She breathed a relieved sigh as she spotted the 'this is vaysh' and knew it was her lovely co-mod.

Her elation didn,t last long though as guilt settled deep and familiar in her belly upon realizing she had once again forgotten to check the fanfair inbox upon waking that morning.

I have to watch that movie. :)

Maggie can go back to her bagel without any misguided feelings of guilt and self-chastisement. The fanfair mailbox has been largely empty, after the flood of mails having come in the week before. There has come in, though, a spectacular piece of art that Maggie definitely should look at.

Maggie's pulse races at this news. And she curses being on her tablet and how awkward and time consuming it is to pull up such an email.

This is...

This is chantefable, who cannot make Maggie feel like she might have publicly replied to herself, because she is not a Fan fair mod, and therefore does not have access to the account; the former circumstance fills her with moderate bittersweet glee, because modding is hard and the Fan fair mods are drowning in 10k fic like cows who were set on fire and charged headfirst into a deadly swamp, but on the other hand also slight wistfulness, because she HAS promised to pinch-hit, but is rather a bit of lazy cow herself; however, being aware that, should she fail to deliver, Maggie will experience a flutter of macabre excitement, crack the modly whip and set the metaphorical tail of the metaphorical cow ablaze, for hell hath no fury like a mod scorned, she clutches her cup of coffee and takes deep, scorching swallows to wash down the feeling of guilt until it settles in her stomach, churning and wailing at the writer's block currently residing in her head; the abrupt wave of nervous agitation leaves her drained and helpless, and she collapses on the couch to read fic and do nothing, because yay procrastination and whatever.

This meta drabble now comes to an end.

Reminded of that delightful commercial, maggie opens a new tab and pulls up youtube. A smile spreads across her face, of nostalgia and anticipation of tomorrow,s peace and quiet.

It's a fantastic commercial because we all get it!
I also love the Alice Cooper ones, where he is shopping for school supplies with his attitude-filled goth teen daughter. :)

Maggie thinks wistfully back to the buckets of tears both happy and sad shed the night before. Dramatic endings can be happy too, she muses.

When the former flatmate and me watched Vicky Christina Barcelona, we kept narrating our own lives for three days straight. At several points, we got confused with whom we were narrating, as we kept narrating each other as well as our individual selves, and sometimes the two of us at once.

Having read all the delightful comments on this post, Vlora immediately decides to watch the movie. She feels a little uncomfortable talking of herself in the third person, but thinks it's also kinda fun and resolves that it might not feel as weird once she has actually watched the movie. She then realizes that might not be a good thing because 1)others might think she has a personality disorder and 2)it's a little hard to concentrate on what she is doing while at the same time narrating it in her head. The only reasonable solution to this, she thinks, is to keep practising.

The key is to believe it is not you narrating. That helps with the worry of the personality disorder.

Because it's not YOU see.

GO WATCH!!!

Never saw the movie but they did an episode of "Family Guy" where Peter walks around narrating his life and naturally, his inner monologue spoken aloud isn't always flattering to those around him ;-)

He, I am now picturing you annoying your husband in much the same way. I approve.

ha! there was a moment this morning were I said:

"She hands him his coffee and hopes she added the correct amount of sugar because she knows that she will surely hear about it if she has not."

The look he gave me was priceless. :D
