ikr? My youngest is SW crazy but he's way too young for the movies so this answers all his questions without the nightmares. :)

keep watching... the other 3 play right after. :)

Though my kids are prequel-crazy so they didn't care about ep 4-6 either. LOL.

I love the Saga as a whole, all the six movies, but it was the prequels that made me a fan. Those three movies made all the pieces fall into place. At least for me. :D

I get that. :)

I actually really like the Clone Wars animated TV series. I'm a big Ahsoka fan and I think it helps to see Anakin as the hero that the movies didn't have time to show me fully.

I confess I didn't like Ahsoka very much in the beginning. She's grown on me, though, and now I love her. :D

It's great to see more of Anakin as the hero that he is — because he is the main hero in the Saga, although I think the PT were sucessful in conveying the idea of the tragic hero whose greatest strength is also his greatest flaw and who ultimately brought his own doom.

EDIT: I just realised that I got carried away. lol. Sorry about that. :P

LOL... not at all. I agree that Anakin is the main hero of the Saga. In my own head I adore his storyline. It's really interesting for a lover of flawed characters, it's a wonderful story.

I will admit that my expectations after Phantom Menace where really high. I wanted to see that journey into darkness told in a way that I could understand it. But the transition from 'lost little boy' to 'cocky teenager' lost me. So in my head I have a backstory character development that worked for me, filling in what I felt was lacking in the big screen delivery. Also why I like the Clone Wars because it feeds my need to retcon Anakin's journey.

I know you are a huge fan, so in no way is this me trying to convince you otherwise. Just me explaining my own experience with the prequels. :)

The emphasis on Anakin as the main hero of the Saga wasn't directed to you. It's just... people keeping insisting that it is Luke, you know? That bugs me to no end. :\

I admit that the prequels played out almost exactly like I was expecting. (*coughs* Crazy me had always had faith in Vader, even during the original trilogy.) Have you read any of the novelizations or the EU books?

I have the novelization of Phantom Menace, and three books on Episodes 7, 8, 9 by Timothy Zahn. Which were meh. ;)

I think it's hard when you grew up believing Star Wars was about Luke. I mean, I'd seen A New Hope over a hundred times before the age of ten. The idea that that Saga was really about Darth Vader's journey is really hard to wrap your head around. So really it's just old folk's telling prequel lovers to get off our lawn. *shakes cane*

LOL.

But I'm now re-experiencing it all through the eyes of my children, and that brings everything into an entirely different perspective as they have so many questions about Anakin's journey and how it's possible for a hero to turn into a villain and ultimately a hero again. (we've had some pretty deep conversations at the dinner table on that topic!)

I've read the novelizations of the three prequel movies. I love all of them, but Revenge of the Sith is the best. :) I still have to get the novelizations of A New Hope and Empire Strikes back before reading Return of the Jedi.

LOL.... yeah, that may have to do with growing up with the original movies.

I'll admit that although I have been told that Star Wars was about Luke all my life, I only came to watch the movies, starting from the original trilogy, at the age of 19. That might have had a lot of influence in the way I perceived those movies, because it was pretty clear from ANH that it was about Vader. It was kinda funny because in my head I kept going like, "why did people lie to me?" LOL.

It's awesome that you talk about that with your kids! :)

They also have Marvel and DC minifigs and sets, with Wolverine and Batman and whatnot.

And medieval sets (http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Medieval-Market-Village-10193)! I DREAM OF COWS.

hee! yup. We have a lot of the medieval sets. The boys were really into knights and such last year. (naturally I named them all appropriately King Arthur, Sir Lancelot, Sir Gwaine, ...)

And Littlest is getting Iron Man and Loki for this b-day this weekend. ;)

Kingdoms & Castle are more playable, the medieval ones are more authentic (well, as much as they can be), with modular buildings for adults to play village raids and plastic cow sacrifices and tavern brawls... *stares dreamily*

I love that Lego Star Wars vid. I showed my kid Star Wars for the first time a couple of months back and he kept asking why it wasn't Lego...

Also all the shag-or-die fics *__* It was so hard to pick just three, especially the first lot. So much goodness.

I LOVE LEGO.
