Oh, Omi, this is lovely. It's an excellent background for them - the Dursleys were never going to be simply evil, so Petunia's hurt and anger at the loss of her sister just works. It's easy to understand her thinking in choosing someone as dependable (and ultimately stifling) as Vernon to share her life with. Nice to see Dudley being normal in his enquiring after Harry, too. I wonder if she would eventually leave Vernon, and if so, how the relationship between her (and Dudley) and Harry would change. Fabulously done, and nice to read something a bit different!
