Hello two new (to me) artists... welcome to fandom. Please to be drawing all the things!!!

We Can Burn Brighter by ingberry Merlin/Arthur [R] (35k)
Summary: When Arthur agrees to meet Gwen's new boyfriend Lance and his group of friends he never expected it to include Merlin. It's been nine years since they broke up, but the memories are still raw. Pretending that they don't know each other seems like the best idea, until it's not.

If you are fan of post-breakup fics this has all the achey angsty unresolved issues that you could ask for. I liked that their breakup (when they were 18) happened for valid reasons. That's important to me in these types of fics and their hesitation around each other (with no instant solution or contrived misunderstanding) made a lot of sense. So the plot satisfied as well as giving me all the feelings. It worked really well, and kept a good pace for the 35k.

ALSO! hs_merlin has started posting. LOVE that fest. I was so sorry I couldn't participate this round.

I read We Can Burn Brighter on Friday and loved it. I'm pretty picky about my angst--like you, need it to be for realistic reasons, and I don't want either guy to look like a soppy twit, and I think she did a great job keeping it tense and sweet at the same time without it becoming overwrought. Good stuff.

yes, exactly! I often stay away from break up fics because I have particular needs... don't drag my heart through the mud for lame reasons! :D

But this author has been delivering some nice fic recently, so I gave it a go. Good stuff, indeed.

I love mushroomtale! If i'm not wrong, she does professional work too. Her stuff is so technically good and also beautiful. And achealseabee's use of colour is always so pretty!!

AND YES THAT FIC HA :D I think the pain was worth it :) Very well-written.

I followed "We Can Burn Brighter" on the KMM as a WIP which is something I don't often do and really loved it.

mushroomtale's work is amazing. I love the one you linked to and another favourite is Whispers in the Night which is just stunning. achelseabee's work is gorgeous too. It's so great when new writers and artists come to Merlin.
