Livejournal, come on.

ETA:
So, the original source for the information above is now no longer available AND the link to the English translation of what will happen makes no mention of 10GB Scrapbook users being taken down to 2GB. I suggest taking the above info with a grain of salt and suggest not reposting it until we know more information directly from LJ.
FINAL ETA:
LJ has come out to confirm that the available size of your Scrapbook WILL NOT BE IMPACTED by this. The above information was incorrect (whether because of a poor translation or misinformation on LJs part, it's unclear). But the re-blogging that happened of this info helped, and continues to help perpetuate this incorrect information.
Will I still have the same amount of storage space for my images?
Yes, all account levels will retain the same storage space levels as before, including if you've purchased the extra storage space add-on. These levels are not being reduced.

Livejournal Scrapbook is going away. Your 10GB of Paid Member space is now 2GB. [Please see More Info below on this] If you care, there is an explanation in Russian on the Russian news page. There's also a user-submitted translation.
+ You will no longer have access to your [OLD] Scrapbook once this goes live.
+ Your images will redirect, but the URL will be different.
+ Unable to tell what will happen to any photos you have that put you over the 2GB limit.
+ Back up your Scrapbook just in case.
+ If you want your photos transferred over now instead of waiting, let them know here.

I think our Kinkfest banners are on LJ, but they are just for pimping so it'll be an easy enough fix if LJ messes up the links.

Also! Did you manage to switch your pics to private? When I try, I just get this horrible funky old-school broken-html looking page with no way to make things private.

Date: 2012-04-29 10:45 pm (UTC)I can't say for certain why that is.
Possibly there was an issue with the translation that's now been fixed. Zeitgeistic had written the original version of this which simply got shared over and over.
That original post seemed to line up with the english version, but i can't say for certain. I don't think anyone was try to create panic by sharing this info, only looking to tell people about the transfer so they could back up pics if they were worried about something being lost.

Date: 2012-04-30 12:41 am (UTC)At this point, after these many years of SUP, I doubt it's just stupid customer service, but, at minimum, a disregard for the English user base (that I bet they regard as primarily USians), if not a degree of contempt.

Date: 2012-05-02 09:06 pm (UTC)It is amazing how this has spread so quickly with people getting the wrong end of the stick and some getting quite upset.
I accessed a few of the posts and pointed out that this was misinformation but I expect that it will take a few days to die down.
