oh the demons come (they can subside) anon @ [livejournal.com profile] hp_nextgen_fest James/Teddy [Pg-15, Violence, dark themes] (5.6k)
Summary: This man will be James’ downfall, and the fact that Greyback is letting it be, will be his own.

I have a lot of ~thoughts on this fic. As I said in my comment, it's a fic that makes you think. And makes you want to talk about it. It makes you want to live awhile in this verse (despite the darkness) just to understand the world that was so sparsely described.

It really is very well crafted, sprinkling of information so that the reader is left curious and anxiously reading more to understand and yet not frustrated. (I don't like to have to think so hard that I'm left annoyed at the cryptic words).

Despite being a dystopian AU where the death eaters win, it is not so dark that it was an uncomfortable read. It was more fascinating than anything, with events moving very quickly and all told through Greyback's point of view as he raises James Sirius Potter as his own son. heh. upon typing that it reminded me that I originally skipped the fic because of that premise. :/ BUT [livejournal.com profile] snegurochka_lee posted this adorably enthusiastic rec so I had to give it a try. (there's spoilerish talk in the comments so beware if you scroll down).

LOL most rambling rec ever. idek.

Anyway. It's a very interesting idea and the result, while not quite perfect (I'm still left with a number of questions I hope the author will answer upon reveal) is a compelling read that leaves you wanting to talk about it or maybe just read it again.
