One Word Prompts

I think it's a good day for another one word prompt fest. Due to cold medication I make no claims to any of the words I write making any sense but that's never stopped me before. and just feel like having a bit of fun and hope you'll join me!

So.

Comment with two characters and a one word prompt.

1) See a prompt you like? write it!!! word count is not an issue - this is a distraction/writing exercise. Just have fun. paragraphs and sentences are still awesome fills.

2) Drawbles are awesomesauce!

3) Multiple drabble-like comment porns are welcome. If a prompt's been written, it can be written again.

4) If you see a little fic/paragraph/comment thingy that you like, feel free to write a continuation of it.

Fill: Black Coffee

Harry knew how Sirius liked his coffee - black and strong enough to leave him wincing as the hot liquid burned his throat. Harry didn’t care much for coffee but he drank his like that too, because when he closed his eyes and savoured the flavour, it tasted like Sirius. He made coffee every morning and toast, with lashings of butter and jam, which made their fingers sticky as they ate and perused the Prophet, each going for the Quidditch section and laughing when their hands met on the same page.

“I hate this place. I don’t know why we stay.”

“No,” Harry looked around the kitchen, dark and grey as the paintings screamed in the hallway behind them, “Because we have made it our home?”

“Perhaps.” Sirius was noncommittal as he reached for his mug, his eyes fixed on the page in front of him, his head bowed as he frowned at something, sipping his coffee.

“You’re happy, though?”

“Of course, Harry.” Sirius reached across the table to take Harry’s hand in his own and Harry looked at their fingers twined together. He didn’t want to look at Sirius because he knew that Sirius would be smiling and the smile wouldn’t reach his eyes.

“Sugar?”

Harry looked at the chipped china dish, pushed towards him across the table and gripped his mug tighter still, “No. Thanks.”

“Of course, I forgot. I always assume you have sugar…” Sirius laughed and Harry’s eyes flicked upwards at the sound, noticing that Sirius had the faraway sort of look he got sometimes, right before he kissed Harry. “Your father-”

“Liked sugar in his coffee - I know.”

Sirius looked into the distance for a moment before turning back to Harry, releasing his hand, their fingers sticky with the jam from their toast.

“Is something the matter?”

“No.”

“I thought you liked hearing about James?” Sirius watched Harry curiously as Harry flicked the chewed nail on his forefinger over a spot on the table, burned into the wood long ago. Harry shrugged and began to pick at the mark.

“I do, of course I do.” Harry had spent too many years eagerly hanging onto everything Sirius would tell him about his father to do anything now, other than look up at Sirius with a smile which felt forced.

“He was my best friend, your father…he’s part of both of us, Harry.”

“I know. I’m fine.” Harry stood and took his mug to the sink, watching the black liquid drain away.

“I’m going to shower,” Sirius moved and stood behind Harry, kissing the spot on his neck which always made him weak at the knees, strong arms wrapping around Harry’s waist which he leaned back into, despite himself. Sirius flicked his tongue over the same spot and moved his lips to the shell of Harry’s ear, the touch making him shiver. “You should join me.”

“Sure. I’ll be there in a moment.”

Sirius turned and left the kitchen and Harry waited until he heard footsteps on the stairs before he dropped his head to his chest and gripped the sides of the counter until his knuckles turned white. He vaguely thought he could hear the sounds of ragged breathing in the dark room, realising after a moment the sounds were coming from his own lips.

Harry thought about the previous night and wondered how everything could shatter in one small moment of time. He remembered moving with Sirius on the twisted cotton sheets, bodies’ slick with sweat and their breathing heavy in the darkness. He remembered the dull ache and the blissful pleasure as Sirius slipped inside him, their eyes meeting as they kissed into the shadows. He remembered words of love, affection and the whispered talk of two lovers exchanged between them in gasps and sighs as they moved together in the night. He remembered the final word on Sirius’ lips as he reached his climax, deep inside Harry, burying his face in Harry’s neck.

“James…”

Harry turned on the tap and watched as the water washed the coffee from the sink.

Sirius substituting Harry for James is such a kink of mine, idek, and you've handled it so beautifully here. That lack of resolution, with the sense that Harry will let it keep going on even though it clearly kills him... Yes. So much yes. Thank you.
