One Word Prompts

I think it's a good day for another one word prompt fest. Due to cold medication I make no claims to any of the words I write making any sense but that's never stopped me before. and just feel like having a bit of fun and hope you'll join me!

So.

Comment with two characters and a one word prompt.

1) See a prompt you like? write it!!! word count is not an issue - this is a distraction/writing exercise. Just have fun. paragraphs and sentences are still awesome fills.

2) Drawbles are awesomesauce!

3) Multiple drabble-like comment porns are welcome. If a prompt's been written, it can be written again.

4) If you see a little fic/paragraph/comment thingy that you like, feel free to write a continuation of it.

puppy prince

Arthur never meant for it to become a thing. He’s frankly not even sure how they got here at all, only that they have and now that they are, and he’s not willing to let it go. He tries not to think about it too hard or too often, which is usually easy enough, given his schedule and Merlin’s and how rarely they even do it, but when he does think about it—and he is now—his heart speeds up and his palms go sweaty, and he’s grateful to be alone in his room, staring at the slim leather collar laid out carefully at the foot of the bed.

It’s not an order. It never is. It’s a suggestion—an offer.

Arthur sighs and leans back against the door, pressing his palms flat against it. He counts his breaths—in two three, out two three—and then walks past the bed, past the collar, and into the bathroom, where he strips off his suit, leaves it in a pile on the floor, and climbs into the shower. He turns the water up as hot as he can stand it and scrubs his skin everywhere—behind his ears, the backs of his knees, the soles of his feet—and then he soaps up his cloth and does it again. His heart is an unsteady thing in his chest, betraying him as he runs his fingers all over his body.

The bathroom is filled with steam by the time Arthur shuts the water off. Arthur reaches for a towel and dries himself off and then, without looking at the mirror, walks into the bathroom and curls up at the foot of the bed. He leaves the collar where it is.

It isn’t much later that Merlin comes in, but Arthur has already settled a little, his heart beating easier inside his chest. He still needs, though. He still wants.

“Hey,” Merlin says softly, crossing to the bed and sitting down beside Arthur on the bed. He reaches for the collar, which flops open in his hand. Arthur’s breathing quickens. “You okay?”

Arthur doesn’t answer. He’s not expected to. The corner of Merlin’s mouth twitches into a smile.

“You okay, boy?”

Arthur shifts closer, pressing his shoulder against Merlin’s thigh. When he gets close enough, Merlin reaches down and slips the collar around Arthur’s neck. It’s cool, the leather soft and worn, and the buckle isn’t too heavy. Arthur likes it because of the way it makes him feel like he’s connected to Merlin, like Merlin is looking after him and taking care of him. Merlin likes it for the D-right on the buckle that he can clip Arthur’s leash too. Not tonight, though. The leash may only be three feet long, but tonight, that’s too far.

“How was your day, huh? Did you have a good day, boy?” Merlin scoots back on the bed, tugging Arthur with him. He settles his back against the headboard and pats his thigh. Arthur grins and chases him up the bed, making Merlin laugh when he nuzzles under his armpit, snuffling loudly. He smells good, like fresh air and Arthur’s soap. Arthur paws at his chest and climbs into his lap. When he was showering—when he saw the collar in the first place—he wanted to spend the evening curled up with his head on Merlin’s leg, letting Merlin rub his. Now he’s heard Merlin laugh though, he wants to play. He loves the way Merlin lets his guard down when they’re playing like this. There’s something innocent and easy about him, all the responsibility of his life stripped away. Like this he’s just a boy, and Arthur is just his pet.

“All right, down,” Merlin says, but he’s still laughing as he shoves Arthur out of his lap. “Come oh, get down. I got you something.”

oh, anon. Please let this be a WIP. This post can be used for little moments in time that don't need to be a ful fic, but THIS!!! I want more of this so badly!

Now he’s heard Merlin laugh though, he wants to play. He loves the way Merlin lets his guard down when they’re playing like this. There’s something innocent and easy about him, all the responsibility of his life stripped away. Like this he’s just a boy, and Arthur is just his pet.
