I believe non-con, coercion, blackmail and bribery are all acceptable methods for getting your children to play outside on a nice day.

brought to you by day 2 of march break.

ikr? grr!

I was NEVER inside my house unless it was raining. (and sometimes even then I was off 'playing in traffic' as my mom used to say).

But around here at least, my kids are the only ones to play outside. If they aren't outside, there's nothing but birds making noise out there and our neighborhood is filled with kids. WHERE ARE THEY?

They are all in daycare.

My kids were begging to stay on the playground yesterday after school and willfully disobeyed me when I said we had to go home so DD1 could work on homework. I caved. I let them play for 20 minutes. It was too beautiful. Then they went outside twice more and we took a walk before bedtime at their request. My kids know how to appreciate good weather:D

Sometimes I do have to kick them outside forcefully, however. (Our spring break is the first week in April.)

yes. Or they've flown to Disneyland for the week. :/

awe, lovely. :) Now, my kids will happily be outside if I'm there with them. Or if I take them to the park. But they need a lot more incentive to be outside on their own.

0.o. It's Disneyworld around here. People do travel for spring break, though. Excellent point.

My kids used to need me outside to enjoy being outside, but they have thankfully moved beyond that. Mine are almost 10 and 7 and the older one can be quite helpful with outdoor activities. Heh. The two of them together are quite a team with their ideas:D

(Note that they don't always take advantage of good weather, but they seem to be having a streak at the moment and I'm enjoying that!)

Sorry. meant disneyworld! I get them mixed up. :D

Mine are 5 and 7 and yeah, the 7 yr old is often pretty happy to be outside and just... scream his head off in a pretend football game (with himself). But the 5 yr old is lost and bored if we aren't out there.

Hopefully when they are older they'll be quite a team, too. ;)

LOL. No worries. If I hadn't grown up in FL, I would probably mix them up too. My kids have still not been, despite the fact that my parents live in FL. I have no desire to go (having hated the experience as a kid). I don't want to take them either.

:D Have no fear, they will figure it out soon enough. I think it's just been in the last year or two that my kids have been old enough to figure out how to be outside without me. I love it best when it snows and they can run around without me!

I don't remember ever having to be forced to go outside!

Same with playing with toys! I was an only child and I'm sure I didn't complain of boredom as much as my children do!
