anyone want a comm?

I just posted an announcement at gsd_rtfn because I’m looking for feedback on the comm as well checking to see if anyone would like to take over as mod.

I’m really pleased with this little community and it’s quite self-sufficient, but I don't actually participate over there as often as others do, and I feel like maybe someone else would be better at running it and may have ideas for potential for improvement, ways of making hosting easier, or reaching out to different people and offering different ways of inspiring everyone to get shit done.

As well... While I'm cleaning up old comms... if anyone would like merlin_hotrecs I'm happy to hand it off as well. While I think the idea still has merit and the potential is there for a great resource of 'hot' fic and art, I found it too difficult to keep track of public recs while also keeping up with my own recs and modding duties. And I just think it would be better in someone else's hands.

So, if you are interested in either of these comms, let me know.

And just to be clear, I'm not looking for a co-mod, but to hand the entire community over - no strings attached. :)

I've never done any kind of modding, so I have no idea what it entails but if someone is interested in co-modding or if you are interested in sticking around to show me the ropes, I'd take the gsd_rtfn comm.

gsd_rtfn is really just about scheduling and supporting host if they aren't sure how to handle.

We have the Schedule (http://gsd-rtfn.livejournal.com/847.html). The mod needs to 'handle' the schedule and avoid conflicts. (see the comments to see how that works... pretty easy)

and then when the time comes, you need to assign posting access. Also just a couple steps on LJ each week.

Oh, and right now I don't have tagging open, so I need to go in and assign tags to each most but whom ever takes over as mod can open tagging and stop being so anal.

That's the basic idea.. you can think about it and see who else might be interested in co-modding.

You can also check out the discussion at the comm about the new ideas people have an see if there is anything there you'd be interested in implementing. (implementing for the mod would basically be establishing new rules and communicating them and the hosts actually do the 'implementing')

I'm thinking I'll do it, I just need a day where I have more time to really read all this through and work out how to all this. I'll have more time in March if that is a good point for you to hand over the flag?

Just putting it out there, but I'd be willing to co-mod gsd_rtfn with you if you'd like. I've never modded anything before either, so we could be modding noobs together :P

LOL I was about to suggest the same thing :D

I will have more time in March to really work out how to do this etc. so maybe in the meantime we can think about who wants to do what or whatever. I have no idea where to start but we'll make it work I'm sure :D

I will have more time after...well, this week, really. And then I won't have much time in May, but apart from that, I should be fine. It doesn't seem like the comm is going to take tons of time to mod.

And we can take the time before March to kind of hash things out, figure out what's going to change or whatever. I think we'll be fine. :D

And Maggie will be there to help us if we need it (right? right? D: )

I am....tempted. Do either of the comms require a ton of time to mod? If they don't, I'd be available for modding or co-modding (if you wouldn't mind showing me the ropes a bit) :P

Neither comm takes much time at all. Mostly I want to not have them as my responsibility because I keep forgetting about them due to other modding stuff and I think they would both thrive better in someone elses hands. :)

As for hotrecs... it's a bit harder. just because you need to actually keep track of recs that you see (and/or get other people to email you when they see three recs for something.

Unfortunately, lots of people who rec in Merlin fandom rec flocked. so that's a total pain because they don't 'count'

But I do follow anyone who I know is a reccer I have tried to keep track. For fests like merlin_games and the big bangs, having three recs is usually easier to find. But for fics posted outside of recs, it's a bit more rare.

so. it depends how much work you want to invest into searching out recs.

That said, making the actual posts aren't complicated. :)

Ok, so, if rufflefeather would be willing to be a co-mod, I'll definitely go ahead and take over gsd_rtfn.

I really want to take merlin_hotrecs, but I don't think I follow enough reccers to find all the recs. If you could compile a list of people I could friend, that would be fantastic and I'd love to take it off your hands. (I'm kind of hoping someone will want to co-mod it with me though :\ )

Maybe modding some comms will give me the motivation to finish putting my Merlin/Morgana comm together. :P
