Who ever fucking decided to cut THESE DELETED SCENES should be FIRED for BAD decision making.

why why why? yes - there's only so much time to tell the story you need to tell. And I loved the first 5 eps as they stood, but most of these scenes? Where IMPORTANT. dammit.


Spoilers for the first 5 eps of S4.

You know what I would have LOVED? That they released a full 'extended version' S4 on DVD - so like fine - can't fit in all these scenes? put them in the DVD and people will PAY to see them as part of the eps.

I know I certainly would fork out the money for a better written show with more depth and characters motivations actually EXPLAINED and not CUT and therefore not part of canon.

yes! And ACTUALLY the whole scene with Morgause? talking about the 'old ways' and inspiring Morgana to bring it all back? That was BEAUTIFUL and made me understand Morgana's motivation and belief that her roll her is important and not just 'crazy revenge lady'

to me this is the most important scene out of all that deleted scenes,we have never scene morgause mold morganas mind ,we knew she did but this show how she instilled her influence.i love the sheald thing but am glad they did not add it am not sure how i would have felt ,merlin taking agift like that from arthur knowing what he is keeping from him,i think their is too much dishonesty between them for him to accept and keep such a gift,maybe after the reveal,right now it would have felt like accepting an engagement ring from him while he is cheating on him,not cool.as for the uncle the scene left me with more questions than answers,we never saw him in camelot or heard about him so when exactly did he fall in love with morgana ?,because when he arrived morgana had already left camelot.but i do want to kill who took out merlin and lancelot scene,merlin has no confidant except lance ,let him talk about his feelings for gods sake.the conversation about their dads i agree with the edit ,i dont think it should bhave been added,merlin telling arthur that balinor was his father is a conversation we need to see,given that he died in merlins arms and arthur there and he did not say a word,i dont want it implied that he told him i want to see that conversation.

That's what the flatmate and me were thinking - they seem to have cut out all those scenes that would have made Arthur less of a douche and allowed for some proof that he matures and reflects not only when he is kicked into the right direction.

Ah well. There was never much depth to the show, why lament the lack of it now...;)

And all this time we have been blaming the writers for the plot holes and confusion. Seems as if whoever is editing needs to bear the blame. Almost every one of those scenes would have clarified the show and set up what would happen in the future better than some of the scenes they did leave in. What were they thinking?

We fold plenty of buttsex into our head canon so I'm sure these deleted scenes can fit right in. ;)

As far as I'm concerned, if they filmed it, it's canon. Even if they had to cut it, it still happened. So Merlin has Arthur's mother's seal, Agravaine is totally in love with Morgana (which makes me squicky and happy all at once cuz I figured that was what was motivating him but...ew!)

IKR? I don't know why but that guy makes my skin crawl, he's just...gross! I imagine someone somewhere must find the man attractive but...ick! Though he hasn't declared his love on the show, he has given her many a desperately-in-love-with-the-ice-Queen look before so...can't say I was at all shocked.

That last scene of 4.01!!!! God, Merlin's face! You can just tell his heart is bleeding for the betrayal!! And then Arthur gives him that seal AGHSFL!!!

OMG, that scene in 4x01, the last one, where Arthur gives Merlin Ygraine's seal OMG! WHY?! WHY WAS THAT TAKEN FROM US?!

And that scene in 4x02, with Merlin and Lancelot. That look on Lancelot's face when Merlin maintains that Arthur will never know. HIS HEART WAS BREAKING FOR HIS FRIEND! *cries* Oh, Lancelot, my darling boy...

And then... did Agravaine just declare that he's in love with Morgana? WTF? Okay, not too happy about that scene, and I'm actually glad it was cut. Because I refuse to buy that he's doing this because he's in love. The idea that he'd throw over his own kin, his sister's only child, just because he took a fancy for Morgana? No way. It just has to be bigger than that.

I also liked the scene with Gwen and Arthur where they discuss magic. That would have been a lovely scene to have, to make Gwen more of a presence in this episode where Arthur so clearly needed the support.

And Merlin and Arthur's scene in 4x04. BALINOR WAS MENTIONED HOLY CRAP! And the music was just gorgeous. I <3 their theme. *coos*

His mother's friggin' seal! Next thing he'd have done was get down on one knee! Gee, that's not a significant scene, let's just lose it. Well, it's out there, so IT IS NOW CANON!!

And here they confirm what I suspected about Agravaine's motives. There have been hints in his facial expressions (in scenes they decided to keep) and here's the proof! I knew he was in love with the bitch!

Also, that scene with Gwen when Arthur explains his views on magic...wtf? Why would they cut that? Oi!

THose scenes were great, esp. when Arthur gives Merlin his mother's sigal and oh, to know that Agravaine is in love with her. Makes a world of difference. Also loved Morgause's speech about the Isle. And Lance's talk with Merlin just about broke my heart.

They needed to keep those in, damn it.

i think these are from the dvds but I was suggesting them sell an extended version where the deleted scene were part of the show as you watched. Like the LOTR extended movies. so the deleted scene were canon, really.

Oh man! These are just so good! I love the Arthur/Gwen one where he tells her he's going to use magic to save Uther. Finally something that gives their relationship some depth! Also: it is a vital scene to any sort of future magic reveal on Merlin's part! *flail*

Thought the extrapolation to Gwen on magic was rather significant too, though could have been less hammy.
