I'd like to create a list of Merlin Art Comm, and what they are used for and who can post in them and such.

Art fest type comms?

As well as comms that you can cross post your art to like merlinxarthur, bradleycolin... Where do artists post their gen works?


Anyone have such knowledge that they'd like to share?

Does such a list exist somewhere else (where it is maintained by people which more knowledge than me) that I could just link to? I'm not trying to re-invent the wheel, I just want a resource for new artists coming into Merlin fandom.

Oooh, and I would love it if there was one for gifs as well - would that count as art, or not really?

Checking a few artists' profiles, I also can't find anything other than drawmelot (mirrored (http://drawmelot.dreamwidth.org/) on DW, sometimes with different content, I think). I think most people just crosspost their art to the appropriate shipping/individual comms.

On second look, merlin_icons seems to also accept art, though it is rarely used for it. If you want to include graphics, such as icons/banners/wallpapers/vids, then there's also merlin_stills, yeoldegraphics, merlinicons100, merlin20in20 and merlin_vids.

There's also merlin_ficart, which brings art and fic together (i.e. requests for fic based on art and vice versa.)

I don't post to merlinxarthur much because I draw a variety of things that don't qualify (!weeMerlin/Hunith, Gwa/M, individuals), which is why I don't often make it to the bbc merlin newsletter. When I remember I post to drawmelot. I pretty much put everything on deviantart merlin groups, I see artwork there many times not featured on LJ.:

yeah... that's what I was wondering. It feels like a lot of Merlin artists are based in deviantart and aren't posting their stuff on LJ.

Is that because they don't have a comm where they feel welcome? Merlin fandom on LJ not good commenters?

Do not enough people know about drawmelot? because i didn't until 3 days ago and I've been very active in this fandom for almost a year. Though maybe I'm just oblivious. lol

I adore the newbie guide comm...the list of fandoms with a guide is pretty extensive and a wonderful way to help out when you're new, but also fabulous for branching out into a particular fandom as well. I think people tend to kind of stick to their niche somewhat, so it's useful to be able to get a broader scope of what's out there.
