This is the HP version of my year in review. If you’d like to see any Merlin stuff: Merlin fics of 2010, totaling about ~34k words.
In the order they were posted...
Harry/Draco:
Ferreus Rememdium [NC-17] (5k)
Summary: Draco swallows his pride and visits a specialist for his very intimate problem.
In Hiding [NC-17] (2k)
Summary: Prompts: Kink:Fabric licking! And Draco secretly under the table!
The Spider and the Moth with art by
stellamoon [NC-17] (10k)
Summary: Young Auror Harry Potter is sent to Morocco to investigate a potion smuggling ring. He quickly realises he’s in over his head with both the assignment and the primary suspect.
In the toilet of the Leaky [NC-17] (3k)
Summary: um... filthy toilet sex?
Packing the Flat [NC-17] (6.5k)
Summary: Months after their explosive break-up, Draco insists Harry return to their flat to remove his belongings.
Other Pairings:
Better Than Goats and the sequel, Better Than a Sparkly Dildo [NC-17] (8k) Harry/Ginny/Draco
Summary: Ginny offers Harry something a little different for their anniversary
Dirty Blue [NC-17] (11k) Draco/Al
Summary: Draco cursed the worn cobblestone and the entire urine-reeking alley. He cursed ever having left his house that evening. Most of all, he cursed Harry Potter for having a son who had landed himself unconscious at Draco's feet, halfway to a lethal overdose.
Purple Butterflies [NC-17] (6k) Scorpius/Rose
Summary: At fifteen, Rose and Scorpius are too focused on besting each other to care for the kind of romantic distractions everyone else in their year seem keen on but an unexpected moment of intimacy could change everything between them.
Your Legacy [PG] (1k) Draco-centric, mention of Harry/Scorpius (Dark!fic)
Summary: He is yours and you will do anything for him, your Scorpius.
To Me You Are the Sea and the tiny coda:I can feel the butterflies [NC-17] (9k) Harry/Scorpius
Summary: Scorpius dreaded attending Harry Potter's fiftieth birthday party for more reasons than he cared to admit.
And about 10k worth of little tiny fics that are included in my Multi –pairing and Harry/Draco only masterlists.
Total HP Fics: 11 fics (only counting stuff that is over 1k)
Looking back, did you write more fics than you thought you would this year, less than you thought, or about what you predicted?
Hmm... maybe less? But I think the fics I wrote were longer and more complex than the previous year.
Where did you publish/archive your stories?
LJ only. I can't keep up with anything else.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2009?
I wrote a character death fic! Go me! :)
What's your favourite story this year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you the happiest?
Purple Butterflies -- hard to explain why, but I really liked this fic. I loved writing it. It was very different – a sweet, het fic. Everytime I get a comment on it, I’m so pleased. :)
Okay, NOW your most popular story.
Packing the Flat. My most popular fic ever in the history of writing anything. For some reason this makes me feel very weird. :/
Story most under appreciated by the universe?
Heh. Probably one of my tiny ficlets? I adore each of them to pieces, but can’t really expect anyone else to, you know? LOL.
Story that could have been better?
The Spider and the Moth -- it’s a fic I hated while I wrote it, cried over and will likely never be entirely happy with.
Sexiest story?
Better Than Goats.
Most fun story?
Ferreus Rememdium -- I giggled the entire time I wrote it.
Story with single sweetest moment?
Not sure if many would agree, but the end of Purple Butterflies was ridiculously sweet to me.
The story that made you cry?
The Spider and the Moth made me cry while I was writing it. I was told (repeatedly) that Packing the Flat made the readers cry. But I think the saddest story here is Your Legacy.
Hardest story to write?
The Spider and the Moth
Easiest story to write?
In the toilet of the Leaky maybe?
Most overdue story?
The Spider and the Moth (hello fic that is appearing all over this meme...)
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
Plotting!!! Why did I even try??? *cries* My big discovery this year is that I am a character writer. I write short, intense character-driven fics very easily. It’s my comfort zone. Plot-driven fics are like pulling teeth, every word excruciating to get out. I realised that it’s better for me to include plot in a character-driven story (like Packing the Flat) rather than try to write plot-driven fics like The Spider and the Moth
Do you have any fanfic goals for the New Year?
I’ll still be modding and reccing. I’d like to play a bit more, have fun and take some chances. I don’t know what my word count will look like next year, but all I can ask is that I’m proud of each the fics I manage to create. And any opportunity I have to collab with
stellamoon? I am jumping all over. :)
Total HP word count for 2010: 72k! (including the less than 1k bunch)
Total word count across fandoms for 2010: 72(HP)+34(Merlin) = 106k
According to last year's meme I wrote 71k in total in 2009 so it seems that Merlin isn't taking away from my HP writing... just being written in addition to it!

You planning on writing more this year?

Date: 2011-01-14 05:37 pm (UTC)I have a few H/D fics up my sleeve. Problem is, a lot of the same HP pairings don't hold any sway for me. I can't even look at a Snarry fic nowadays.
I have an Eames/Arthur exchange in the works. And I'd like to write another Merlin fic.

I loved Packing the Flat but didn't read it for a long time because you didn't rec it lol.

Date: 2011-01-14 05:55 pm (UTC)Thank you for the list, now I can go and catch up on stuff I've missed. AND WHAT DO YOU MEAN, YOU DON'T LIKE SPIDER & MOTH????? *hugs the fic tight* That was one of my favs in the fest, and one of my favs of your writing. It's so unique—exotic, sexy, mysterious—and I was intrigued all along and I remembered staring the art by Stella and wondering, and wondering some more. :) Draco was such a homme fatale without being an brainless empty shell of a pron star. It's the case where the character was a plot.
*Huggles you*.

Date: 2011-01-16 01:15 am (UTC)The Spider and the Moth. *sigh* I read your comment (this one and the two you left) and it makes me love the fic, like as if I planned it to be exactly how it is in your head. Only... I think that's me wishing more than my skill.
The character was the plot, only after much re-writing. I think that's why I'll never love it. Draco and Harry's characterisation (which I think is what saved the fic) only came LATER. Like much later. I originally had uber!auror Harry and perfect!villian!Draco and it was not working!!! after much heart ache I realised if they were 'too good' then it was all going to end very badly.
And so I completely re-wrote their characters to 'fit' better with the way I wanted them to connect.
IDEK - is that a cop out? hee! maybe. But that's why the fic bugs me, because when I see it's all a patchwork of add-ons. :/
tl;dr! sorry.
But the fact that you love that fic means the world to me, just so you know. *snuggles*
