Okay – I tried to do this for both HP and Merlin and my brain doesn't work that way. So… I'll do an HP only one after hd_hols reveals.

Summary: When Arthur returns from a impromptu hunting trip to find the stocks empty, he’s surprised by Uther’s leniency. But Merlin doesn’t get away with making Arthur’s excuses so easily this time.
Revenge: served hot, sticky and sweet (2,236)
Summary: They’d tried it once, but Arthur had been tense and Merlin clumsy, too gentle by half. Arthur may have been a bit cutting in his remarks. Neither had spoken of it since.
Clarifying Ownership (1800)
Summary: Merlin's eyes flew open, but he didn’t dare turn his head. He listened carefully to the flap of the tent being pulled back and heard the clank of armour against chainmail as a knight entered the tent, not a foot away from their make-shift mattress.

Summary: Arthur never said a word – before, after or during, and maybe that was what kept Merlin coming back. One day Arthur would break. One day he would make Arthur lose control. And it would be glorious.

I didn't think I would be in this fandom, let alone writing fics in it.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2009?
All of the above!!! Esp. RPF… that was a first in any fandom.
What's your favourite story this year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you the happiest?
With This Ring -- it was long (for me!) with plot (sort of!) and humour (which is not my comfort zone). Also it was wonderfully easy to write. SO. MUCH. FUN.

Making Apologies -- I think this has the highest comment count, and I'm very proud of it because when I see canon, that is what I itch to see. That type of character growth in Arthur. It is however missing 32 pages. Why is writing long fic so hard?
Story most under appreciated by the universe?
Honestly, I can't say. As a total NNF in this fandom, I've been very appreciated and am constantly overwhelmed with the reception of my tiny little fics.
Story that could have been better?
At least half a dozen of them could have been really solid, interesting fics rather than quick ficlets that were written in a couple days. So can I say everything above that is under 1k?
Sexiest story?
Clarifying Ownership -- the come play was quite well received. LOL.
Most fun story?
Close Quarters Uther/Merlin -- I giggled the entire time I wrote that fic.
Story with single sweetest moment?

Finding their Way -- it was like 3pm and I said hey! It's riventhorn's b-day! And then poof! Fic was written and beta'd and posted by 9pm. If only it was always that easy. :)

Er… I was several weeks early for mymerlin_muses…
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
Most of my 'risks' were in smaller fics, experimenting with styles (bullet points, changing the lyrics to songs, trying to tell a larger story in a tiny paragraphs). Next year there will be bigger, better plottier stuff. *crosses fingers*
Do you have any fanfic goals for the New Year?
1) reccing? You couldn't shut me up about fics I love if you tried. ;)
2) I'm currently writing a post-s3 fic which I hope will be an interesting canon piece, more in depth in characterisation than I've really played with so far. (or maybe that's my way of saying it doesn't have pron)
3) I find I really enjoyed writing those quick 'n dirty less than 3k ficlets. I'd like to continue to write those as the inspiration arises (and not tie myself down that I cannot 'play' with pairings and topics)
4) I enjoyed modding.merlin_holidays was a blast. I would love to do an Arthur/Merlin/Gwaine – type of fest, with the focus on all combinations of those three characters interacting in any way. IDEK how that would all work though. *ponders*
5) I may, at some point, attempt a modern AU fic.
