You kinky little buggers! I go out shopping for a couple hours, come back and [livejournal.com profile] hp_kinkfest is at 5 pages of prompts. SQUEE!!!

Hmmm... In other news, everyone and their dog is doing this and well.. bahhhhhhh!

I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she likes office supplies." I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. (Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal. In return, ask me anything you'd like to know about me and I'll give you an answer.) ♥

In other, other news... 3 Merlin vids all with spoilers for 3.13
Courage and Magic by MagicalUnicorn22 [this vid captures the EPIC OTP that is Merlin/Arthur like none other I'd seen]

Within these Dark Time a Beacon is burnng by [livejournal.com profile] analyst_1

Crack Part Deux by meeshell384 Warning for utter ridiculousness and bathroom humour

And in other, other, other news... I'm debating whether it's possible to write an entire fic in exactly 42 word snippets. o.O

Memememememe. Um. I used to read through the TV Guide looking for episode descriptions that would stroke my H/C boner. Especially when I was really into The X-Files. But even back in the actually-watching-Highlander days.

GOD KINFEST YOU TEEEEEEASE. I love that fucking fest. Ung. *molests you*

Anyway. About me! I have 2 cats: Pickle and Nagini. I often think of myself as a boy in my head (you know, when you think of a mental picture of yourself? Mine is male about 80% of the time). I am in love with Korean manhwa. Nnng the art is fantastic. I'm obsessed with elephants. Seriously, any kind of elephant is beautiful to me, and I get watery eyes when I see one on TV.

A question por vu.... Who is your favourite author and what did she/he write that made you feel this way? (I'm assuming it's someone other than JKR, but if JK's your fave, pic your #2)

FAvourite author is Jane Austen. Lame answer. I know. But what can I say? As much as I adore Dumas and the Bronte sisters and so many others, Austen writes books that I want to read over and over. And that's what inspires me. :D

Hey, my middle name is Elizabeth :). I like it more than my first name.

Thing. Uh, I was a really Serious Catholic until I was 13, agnostic throughout my teenage years, and then at some point realised the doubt had gone and I was comfortably atheist. I occasionally experience dissonance at the enormity of the things I used to believe!

What are your thoughts on yaoi formative experiences with religion, if any?

Date: 2010-12-09 09:29 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] marguerite-26.livejournal.com
My mom's middle name is Elizabeth! actually the name she goes by (well, Betty). (her first name is my first name... )

I'm still a Serious Catholic. :D I remember my first formative experiences with religion because the simple 'this is what we believe so you much believe it, too' It was probably around 13 as well. I remember being really into reading about the occult/the paranormal and while I found it fascinating and was totally obsessed with it, I also found it terrifying. My faith (as confused as it was) was a solace and a grounding force while I continued to explore those darker parts of myself and my imagination.

...

Okay - I have no idea how much sense that makes, but there it is, as best as I can explain it. :D Interesting question.

*Swings legs and thinks*

1) I like cold drinks. Anything icy and creamy and sweet makes me happy. I order my coffee iced even if I have to carry it in -10C and on 2 metres of snow :).

2) Er, speaking about office supplies, I am EXTREMELY picky when it comes to them :D. I only use fine points as I write small—so, no medium ball points, no Sharpies with tips thicker than Ultra Fine and no pencils or 0.7mm leads. Also, college-ruled paper only—no wide-ruled. I also have an unhealthy love for Staedler and Pilot (asian version) products. *iz VERY annoying*

3) I like Optima font in MS Word and seldom use "standard" fonts like Times or Times New Roman. I only switch into the latter ones at the end if I must. :)

4) My current laptop's name is Scorpius. It's a MacBookPro13in dressed in Gryffindor red :).

I'm a super shy librarian who took 10 years to get up the courage to get a Livejournal account and make a comment on anyone's fic. My first foray into fandom was reading super porny BTVS fanfic in my office when I wasn't kicking creepy dudes off the public internet computers for looking at porn sites.

What is your dream location for going on vacation? Right now mine would be anywhere warmer than 30 degrees.

• I'm afraid of balloons (actually I just have a fear of loud and sudden noises, like balloons popping) and can't even be in the same room as a balloon without feeling really anxious. The party I was at last friday themed "children's party" was a nightmare :S

my encounter was similar to yours. I'd watched an ep of BtVS and didn't really understand what was happening and need to know MORE so I googled it. I ended up getting a really filthy fic (which I originally thought must be an episode summary - until the started with the fucking. LOL) and yeah... I was hooked THAT INSTANT.

Me? Hm...I'm actually not much of a fan of most holidays. To the point that I kind of can't stand a lot of them. Mostly I hate the obligatory nature of them, that it creates an expectation of presents or flowers or candy, etc. I don't acknowledge most of them, even with family. I like the seasons surrounding some of them, but not the day itself. I like birthdays and Halloween and Thanksgiving and Independence Day. No one gets shit from me on Mother's or Father's day, if I'm with someone when Valentine's Day rolls around I don't want to treat it as anything other than a regular day, and right now the only people who get things from me on Christmas are my parents.

Wow, I sound like a curmudgeon. I just like it when things happen because you want to make someone happy, not because it's expected of you.

Also, I'm a nude model for artists and art classes. That's much less bah humbug :)

For you: even if you don't live with regrets, is there anything in your life you wish had happened differently?

I'm a very boring, suburban mom, but here goes:
1. I love Belgian-style ales and just got home from a tasting. (Of the ones we drank, we voted Unibroue's Fin du Monde as our favorite, go Quebec!)
2. If you count precollege, I've been in academia, either working or as a student, my entire life from age 5 on (40+ years, omg).
3. I'm American, but lived in Montreal for awhile and it's my favorite city. We spend a few weeks there every summer and I cry when we cross Pont Champlain heading back :(
4. I'm rather extremely nonreligious, but most of the profound artistic moments of my life have involved singing sacred music (like masses or Magnificats or other liturgical pieces)

Question: is there a point at which you'd give up on canon if it got too anti-OTP, or do you feel that fannishness, for you, is/must be firmly based on the canon that you are given?

WOW. That's a hard question. hmm... canon is really important to me. It's the core of my characterisation and can never 'not' be the roots of my characters. However, I am able to look at what we are given in canon and see other possibilities. In HP I believe the Epilogue or not depending on how it suits me. But for example, if I had been a snarry shipper? I don't think I would still be in this fandom. I find resurrecting killed characters or always writing in AUs exhausting and it kills my muse. I stopped writing in Angel/Btvs after the Angel finally because I didn't like what canon left me with. :(

I hope that answers your question. :D

Since you mentioned office supplies; I gotta tell you that I love them! Staple removers, letter openers, all colored sticky notes, and those really cool rolly thingies that take the place of old fashioned white out!! LOVE THAT!

I cannot let the ice in a drink touch my mouth, I'm in love with Jared Leto, my middle name is Dawn, I put ketchup on my eggs and mustard on my chicken sandwiches, I'm mostly ambidextrous, I was once a member of MENSA, I do not like sodas, and I once had a cat named Ug. I've only left the U.S once, and that was to go on a vacation in Mexico. I didn't really enjoy it. :(

My favourite office supply in the world is the printer that also staples. It's so satisfyingly precise, the way the staples all line up across copies, and are perfectly parallel to the edge of the page. *______* I also enjoy that chk-chk sound it makes, when inserting the staple.

Alright, let's see...

I'm 24 and I don't have a driver's license. I've never had one. But I need to get one soon. I live with my grandmother (to avoid my mother issues and to help out), and she's half blind, so, that's something I'm going to have to take over.

I'm quite the opposite. I'm definitely a 'get shit done' type of person. Though, I'm impatient. If I wake up and think hey, there should be a Merlin crossdressing/gender-bending fest, then I'll like do it TODAY and have it all planned and pimped and be bouncing to announce it IMMEDIATELY. I will follow through on it all (I don't drop things) but I do 'rush to the wrong answer' - so my recs are full of love, and typos. And I don't always perfectly clean up one project before jumping head first to the next. :/

My favourite fandom character... hmmm... I think at the moment it would be Gwaine from Merlin - mostly because he's a bit 'undiscovered' so I like what we are given to play with and it really tempts me to write him.

In HP, it's Draco. maybe Harry. maybe Scorpius.... GAH!!! Don't make me choose!!! LOL.

I'm British, and I'm a late-fifteenth century historical re-enactor. I can only cope with the glaring historical errors in Merlin because it's a legend and not time-period specific - and because the friend I lived with when series 1 was on wouldn't let me shout at the TV. (Very few of my friends will watch historical films or TV programmes with me...)

I never write on the first page of a notebook, so that the first page is always neat and clean even when the rest of the book is full.
