marguerite_26I hated OotP. HATED it. I cried for like ... ever. I remember sitting on my deck in the bright sunshine with a box of kleenex just bawling until I couldn't read anymore.

markreadshp pop up on my flist these last couple weeks, constantly reminding me of the 'yes, it can just keep getting worse' of OotP... it's making me all emo.
And now: CHAPTER 35: BEYOND THE VEIL.
I want to flippantly think: that's only the beginning. But that would really undermine the tragedy that is Sirius's death which really was something that you needed to live and dwell on for a bit and let it sink in before you could accept the tragedies to come.

Date: 2010-09-07 02:46 am (UTC)This. You didn't write much here. I've written much more in my past incarnation about sirius and harry. But for some reason I am especially emo this evening and I let out a rl sob when I read your post. You nailed it, Rita.
What you wrote is why shoebox project is so important. The marauder story so important. It is so important. OMG ask Pir8 if I can't be trusted. The marauders have the hp story down. It sucks, basically. That is the story. And ootp is all about that. And when hbp ends so horribly, so utterly wrongly. it is so fucking awful, what's ahead of harry. The horocruxes. what we all knew somewhere deep inside. That either harry was a horocrux, or would have to be sacrificed. I think that all began at ootp.
OMG I am connecting this to buffy. You might not remember this but I wrote you long ago that one of the central questions of buffy was, can you be a Girl and still be a Hero? And the answer? No. You can't. You can't be a regular person with a regular life and be a hero. You can be a female person and be a hero (they depicted that so well) but not just a girl. And Harry can't be a real person, either.
It's awful. Sirius' death. The deatheaters at the D of Mys. That draco becomes one in hbp. I can't stand it. Harry having to count on the people worth living for to come back to life after the battle at the end of ootp. But losing sirius. Fuck. OK I have to go now. But harry. OMG harry!!!
