crack_broom through August which was both the easiest and the hardest set of reccing I've ever done. If you are ever considering reccing H/D at crack_broom and are worried that maybe all the best fics have already been recced. Um… not so. Actually, I could have easily recced another 20 on top of these but I just couldn't find the time for them all. However I did manage to rec one art that went with a fic and two fics that came with art so... that's sneaks in 3 more recs into my list. *g*
Still! I'll be adding my name to that queue again v. soon to catch the dozens I missed!

Why everyone should read this: This fic is absolutely outstanding. It is a wonderful AU, starting from the end of HBP. The characters are in perfect pitch with Harry and Draco and Snape fleshed out with respect to where canon left them at the end of HBP. From there the author carves out a beautiful tale of angst, heartbreak and healing. The fic begins with Draco being punished and imprisoned for his failure at the end of HBP before being stolen away to a small cottage. There, he tries to survive and wait for the mystery of how and why he was saved to unfold. Draco's lovely in this fic, broken and depressed but still strong underneath it all. The progression of Harry and Draco's friendship is slow and painful and true to character. A great fic to get lost in on a Saturday morning with stunning art to complete the package.

It's short and only R rated but absolutely loaded with some of the hottest sex I've ever read. Both Harry and Draco's anger and passion of that moment is captured perfectly and transformed into something erotic and visceral and raw. To steal someone else's commentary: a truly quintessential Harry/Draco PWP.

Why everyone should read this: Faith loves to take clichés and tropes and turned them on their heads, re-invent them and remind us why these plot devices got so popular in the first place. I chose this fic out her extensive list because it really shows how a very simple concept that has been done a dozen times over can still make for an incredibly entertaining read. This fic takes the shared detention trope and pairs it with forcedbonding bondage: Harry and Draco must spend their detention literally tangled in each other, bound by a botched Incarcerous. The result is hilarious snark, ridiculous denials, painful UST and some really hot sex.

Like Harry, the reader journeys to Vienna and leaves their world behind for a while and with summer now ending I wanted to grasp at that vacation feel one last time. Vienna is as much a character of this fic as Harry and Draco, deepening the plot and adding texture to the world around them. Outside of the lovely setting, this fic is a great AU, written post-HBP and gives us a Draco who had disappeared after his failure to kill Dumbledore and was generally thought dead. When Harry stumbles upon him on vacation he isn’t sure what to think, but they begin a whirlwind tour of the city while Harry pokes away at the mystery surrounding both the city and Draco. Excellent characterisation on both counts and an engaging story to boot.
