I had the honour of reccing Draco/Al on crack_broom for May. While I didn’t get to rec everything I wanted to because OMG reccing really eats your time, I hope I encouraged a few readers to try out one of my favourite pairings.

Why everyone should read this:

This fic comes with some pretty hefty warnings. If you are someone who does not care about warnings and enjoys dark fic without a concern, then don't bother highlighting the warnings, just read and devour. For the rest of you: heed the warnings. This is a hard read. I don't want to sugarcoat it because I think everyone is entitled to understand what they are getting into when reading a fic like this.

That said, this fic is one of the best fics I have ever read. It is rich in plot and imagery and history and characterisation. There is so much depth to this universe, it forms its own canon with how solidly the post-war world is described. Unique and original and compelling. The author takes her time creating this depth. Be patient and just enjoy a wonderfully written tale.

This is a delish bit of spanking porn with just enough backstory to set the stage nicely. Also, gloves. I adore cocky!Al with a side of Draco mildly amused, partially exasperated and a sizable portion unable to resist.

This 'picfic' is a series of letters between Al and Draco. The style is absolutely charming with the entire fic being told in a series of gifs of parchment owl posts between these two. Their interaction and the story that unfolds is amusing and romantic, a pure joy to read through.

Why you chose this piece:

It's a delicious spot of porn, which is reason enough. But I also love the emo of it. Both Draco and Albus have tears running down their faces while they kiss, and about a hundred plot bunnies spring to mind as to why, oh why are these pretty boys crying. This pairing is just ripe with tension and angst given the age difference, their family history and a dozen other variables depending on your interpretation of the post-war world. I think this captures that feeling perfectly.

Why everyone should read this:

I am besotted with Al in this fic. He is very aware of himself, confident and sexy. While the play of Draco being tempted by Al because Al looks like Harry is a bit of a trope with this pairing, it suits this fic very well. Al plays with the idea without losing himself to it. Their interactions are hot like burning and full of innuendo and games while still being quite mature. It's a delicate balance and the author really pulled it off well.

Why everyone should read this:

This is a very short fic that packs a lot of punch. I chose this one to start my reccing with because it does an amazing job of showing one of the many complexities of the pairing (ie: Harry reaction when he finds out Draco is getting it on with his son. *snickers*). The author does a great job of taking us through the journey of Harry's reaction while giving us a glimpse of the depth of feeling between Draco and Al. All in 600 words. A great teaser for the rest of the month, I hope.
