harryscorp100 LDWS!!!! Today is the LAST DAY! We are down to TWO drabblers! AND *flails* BOTH of these drabbles are fabulous. A total WIN/WIN for the voters, imo! Go VOTE! Open until midnight tonight.
2)

nextgen_awards opened nominations last night. The categories look pleasantly diverse:
I think it'll take me a while to figure out just which fic/art I would nom for each category, but I'm going to have fun going through my rec lists.
Which reminds me, if anyone is a forgetful as I am, there is the BIG ASS NEXT GEN REC LIST - this post will give you links to the AS/S rec list, the NON AS/S rec list, and the Cross Gen rec list.
There are also lots of Next Gen fics not listed there (because they weren't written yet), but check out
hp_sas and
nextgendarkfest AND the
crack_broom Next Gen tag for lots and lots of Next Gen goodness!
Remember kiddies, awards aren't the be-all-and-end-all, but it does make someone feel lovely to be nominated. :D
eta: it's a little hard to catch in the rules, but the winners will be determined by through a public vote, after the top 7 fics/art of each category are chosen (based on number of nom's, I assume). Mods - feel free to correct me, if I'm wrong.
eta 2: Please note rule 7: Cross-Gen stories can ONLY be nominated for the Cross-Gen award. *sigh*

Date: 2010-01-16 06:29 pm (UTC)heh.
I totally missed that. Why oh, why is that always done? Right, so I'll need to re-think 90% of my nominations now.

Date: 2010-01-16 06:34 pm (UTC)I want to state up front that I think this is great for Next-gen, but I would have like to have seen cross-gen at least broken up between het and slash.

Date: 2010-01-16 06:38 pm (UTC)There is a slash set of categories, and a het set of categories and they each have 'Best Cross Gen' listed. :D

Cross-Gen stories can ONLY be nominated for the Cross-Gen award
I had no idea cross-gen was that popular! Part of the concern, at least for me, was that cross-gen stories wouldn't stand a chance against more popular pairings like AS/S. I don't think anything can be changed at this point, but I'll definitely let the other mods know about it!
A cross-gen only awards is totally do-able! You guys should think about it.

Date: 2010-01-19 09:31 pm (UTC)And Hi! Yes, Cross Gen is VERY popular in my neck of the woods and I actually filled up all the slash categories with cross-gen noms and then saw the rule. :(
We certainly could have EASILY filled an entire set of Cross-Gen categories, ie: Best Romance
Best Smut
Best Humor
Best Angst/Tear-Jerker
Best Dark
Best School-Age
Best Post-School
All of just cross gen. AND there's not even a best cross gen author category, which basically disqualifies so many amazing fics and writers that are constantly being told they don't fit (crack broom doesn't allow cross_gen recs in their next gen recs, either) *cries*
But, I understand that you didn't know this, but I wanted to let you know that the interest is certainly there and there are many, many quality fics and writers of cross gen. :D
A cross-gen only awards is totally do-able! You guys should think about it.
um, no. not really. It would have fit nicely into your awards - maybe next year? *bats eyes* but doing a strictly cross gen awards is kinda silly at this point, to me any way. :D
Still... lots of great categories and I will happily fill them will non-cross-gen favs. :D
So... Hi! Welcome. *friends back*

Date: 2010-01-20 03:13 am (UTC)I must admit that I don't know a whole lot about the slash community. I'm mostly a Dramione reader that does a bit of Harry/Draco on the side. It would definitely be better if the awards had a more active participant in the slash community. Perhaps next year!
I'll see if
Oh man, I've been reading through each nomination and I'm surprised that Teddy x James is so mainstream. Definitely expanded my horizons.
Thanks for the welcome!
I shall part with "OMG kinkfest! OMG kinkfest!"
