stellamoon posted a portrait of Draco from silentauror's H/D fic Glamour.

I think I've starred at those lips for way too long. They are an amazing blend of masculine and feminine and just capture the deliciousness of that gender bending fic. *melts*

Today's a holiday in my part of Canada, so I won't be around much. But I wanted to pop on to share a little conversation from last night.

4 y.o.: Mommy, Daddy need his whoring machine.
Me: um, what?
4 y.o.: Daddy needs his whooooooring machine.
Me: *trying hard not to laugh my ass off* a whoring machine?
4 y.o.: *getting angry* his WHORING machine.
Me: *dying* ok, I'm sorry sweetie. I'm just not sure what that is. Can you tell me what it does?
4 y.o.: A whoring machine! For making little whores in paper!
Me: A holing machine? Like a hole punch?
4 y.o.: *exasperated* YES! a whore punch!!!

*spends the evening practicing the 'l' sound with him*

As for that portrait of Draco ... hm. I was a bit tempted to make a post about how a fic can capture gender-bending so perfectly, whereas the art for it just ... doesn't. You think those lips merge masculine and feminine? *looks again*

As for the lips, I've spent a lot of time looking at Stella's lips and eyes. (or rather the way stella draws lips, they are often my favourite part of her art, except for maybe nipples and butt cracks, but lets stay on topic)

so if you take the lips and eyes from:

I look at those lips and those eyes and I see Draco (and Scorpius) but for the intent of this discussion lets just say, I see beautiful, sexy, male lips and eyes. When I look at the Glamour pic, I see the same (I mean not identical, but the evoke the same reaction for me).

So, yes. While my first thought on seeing that pic was 'gorgeous female', my second thought (like harry's) is oh! that's Draco!

Looking at Stella's Draco - yes, I can see the similarities in the male and the "female" Draco. Problem is, her Draco is so different from how I imagine my Draco - I have a hard time even seeing Draco in her beautiful pics. *sigh*

Stella's Draco is pretty damn close to my Draco, so that's likely what makes the difference. Mind, her Harry *is* my Harry. 100%.

I love that stella's art is not the typical cross-dressing art that you often see which is sexy and a bit crack. This is more... stunning. Like you have to stare at a while to appreciate the complexity of it.

Yep, that's definitely a portrait of a female, but I had hoped that if you squinted your eyes just right that maybe at least your imagination could see the male aspect. It shouldn't be too much of a stretch of the imagination, as I have seen plenty of men in drag who actually look female - with the right wig and some makeup, if they are pretty enough to start with. So it's their own facial features that pull off the look, the wig and the makeup just help the illusion in your mind. Especially with mouths - I don't see a whole lot -if any - differences in male and female mouths. I spend too much time time looking at pretty male models and actors! Take Johnny Depp and Jeremy Dufour for instance. Look at nothing but their mouth - zoom in - and it's sure not hard to picture them as female. (Jeremy Dufour has been very helpful in the creation of this portrait) ;)
