We are kicking off with a delicious rentboy!fic. *beams*
Title: Money Can't Buy You Love
Rating: R
Pairing(s): Harry/Scorpius
Age Disparity: Scorpius is 16
Summary:If someone had told Harry Potter a year ago that he'd become obsessed with a rent-boy, he'd have laughed his head off. He's not laughing now, though.
Warnings - Highlight for warnings at the post
Word Count: 4,750
This is a classic rentboy fic with a confused Harry setting out to save his current obsession from his lot in life and going about it all wrong. Note that prior to the start of the fic, Scorpius is 15 and a rentboy, so, you know if that squicks you, be aware. There's also a great little back-story of how Scorpius ended up where he is. Well written, sexy, romantic fic.
In other news: H/D Art rec

Last week she posted the incredible art for Calanathe's Mudhoney (Nc-17).
And today it's art for the sequel Spare the Rod (R)
Mind warnings for blood and bruises!
Personally, I found this particular part of the Mudhoney series almost impossible to read. It was just… God… HARD to read about Harry in this state, allowing himself to be so entirely vulnerable. And still when I think on it, I take that thought and shove it into a box in my mind marked "Do Not Open". This art just blows that box wide open again. If you haven't read Mudhoney, you can still enjoy the art. If you have read Mudhoney, the art will likely flood you with emotions. *whimpers*
Btw – Mudhoney is available on Cal's fic comm.

Date: 2009-08-02 12:30 am (UTC)But, but, but, I am intrigued by SAS but, I am a little wibbly about it. Because although I have read some non H/D, them with anyone who isn't each other makes me feel a little sad... and them with one of their sons makes me a little unsure. However, I am going to give it a bash, starting with your rec!
and darkfest? just the thought of it makes me wibble! I have read and loved some of last year's, but can I request some marguerite H/D which is less dark for a digestif? *iz cheeky*

Date: 2009-08-02 01:10 am (UTC)Not all Harry/Scorpius or Draco/Albus or... whatever if going to be palatable for a true HD shipper. But I think when it is done really well, it rocks. And adds something completely fresh and new to the old Potter/Malfoy dynamic that you can't get from Harry/Draco. (Not that would ever say one is better than the other. They are just... different. and produce very different types of fics).
I hope I can tempt you to read a few during the fest. There are a some that just blew my mind. :D But I will warn against the dark stuff. LOL.
My career fair will be a not particularly dark HD, er... I think. If I ever get finished writing it. I'm supposed to be doing that right. now. :D
(btw - you will find I can write dark!fic a lot more than i can read dark!fic *iz a big wuss*)

Date: 2009-08-02 09:42 pm (UTC)But I am a wuss at heart really - I like my HD with each other, and preferably with fluff and cuddles and jokes... So I'm not going to be too brave!
I am *well* looking forward to careerfair. I am having so much fun writing mine (except I wrote a joke I am so so proud of and gave myself loads of days off which I am now regretting!), and hooray for yours not being particularly dark! It is going to be so. much. fun!

This art just blows that box wide open again.
I'm in awe that it does that for you. Thank you so much. <3
YAY, DARKFEST!! I'm so excited you're going to participate! I'm about to sign up, too!
