Ficlet for Romaine

Here's a little teaser of a ficlet. There may be more to come! And maybe not from me. *iz ev0l*
And lalalalala… I'm not telling you the pairing(s). It’s PG though. Thanks tosoftly_sweetly for the beta. I added a bunch of stuff (and more than likely a few errors). Anyway, Rom would be shocked if I didn't have SPaG issues.
Making the Best of It
Draco found her by the pool. She was stretched out on a lounge chair, twirling a tiny yellow drink umbrella. Her French-cut bikini clung to her curves. Her fair skin was pink and freckled from a summer in the sun. To the casual observer, she might have been simply lounging in the late morning sunshine, maybe even napping. Draco knew differently.
"Are you all right, Miss Potter?"
She looked up at him and offered a broken smile. "So you know?" The bitterness in her voice made the words clipped and jagged.
Draco sighed and sat on the foot of her lounge chair. Lily curled her legs in and sat up. Her sun-warmed skin grazed Draco's thigh. He felt the delicious heat through his linen trousers. He clenched his fists to stop himself from reaching out. "Unfortunately for me, I happened upon Scorpius and your brother celebrating Scorpius's new found freedom." With their hands down each other's pants.
Lily snorted. "That was fast." The stem of the little umbrella snapped in her hand. Draco cursed his son's insensitivity.
"Rather." Draco fiddled with a cufflink that had gone askew.
Lily took a deep and uneven breath and stood. "I guess I should be going. I'm quite the third wheel at the moment."
"Nonsense." Draco stood as well. Her petite frame was dwarfed by Draco's stature and broad shoulders. He placed a hand on both her shoulders and gave a gentle squeeze. He could feel the thin strap of her bikini top pressing into his hand. "You will always be welcome at Malfoy Manor, Miss Potter. It has been my pleasure to get to know you these last few years. Your engagement to my son, while unexpected, was not unwelcome." Despite Draco's flashes of envy, he meant it. Lily would have made an excellent addition to the Manor.
"Thank you, sir. But really, I have no place here." Lily shook her head, as if chastising herself. Then she smiled up at him and added in a stage whisper, "I should be going before Scorpius accuses me of pining."
"We can't have that." Draco chuckled, through clenched teeth. She deserved better than this.
She slipped from his grasp and reached for her wrap. She would walk out soon and he would never see her again. "Thanks for everything, Mr. Malfoy. I need to go tell my parents before they hear of it."
The Prophet would pounce on this scandal. Tomorrow's front page would paint her a helpless victim, at best. He didn't want to think of what would be the worst: a frigid lover turning her fiancé gay? Maybe. Draco grinned as brilliant plan appeared, fully formed, in his head. "Miss Potter, the owner of Il Forno recently informed me that, while the entrance into his restaurant is well watched by the press, the food is exceptional and the dining quite private."
Lily studied him for a moment, and her famed cunning did not disappoint. A truly wicked smile spread across her face. "Is that so?"
Draco pulled her left hand to his lips and kissed the tan line on her now empty fourth finger. "Are you free this evening, Miss Potter?"
Her eyes danced with mirth as she said, "Please, call me Lily."
And the SEQUEL had been posted Read All About It by the fabuloussoftly_sweetly.
Bwahahahhahaha! we now have a prequel!!! Winning Affection bynolagal.
And if anyone is wondering where I got the original idea for this fic, it was a rip-off from this conversation and Rom's comment drabble from last November. Draco/Lily drabbly thoughts

You know how much I adore you and treasure your friendship. Despite this last year having been a very rough one for me, there are wonderful things that have happened, and having you as a friend and playing in fandom together has been a major one. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
