I am a little lame and idealistic. But I hope people will participate in this anyway because I want to read your fics but I want you to make it easy on me.

A Self-Pimping Rec List

bryoneybrynn wrote a post early this week welcoming people to name artists and writers they love who have not ‘made it big’. These are the wonderful people of fandom that toil to create quality fic and art but are not always the first people to get the awards, to get on the top of rec lists, you know who I mean.

These are the people in fandom that need an extra little pat on the back because the HP fandom is huge and many talented people get loved by a devoted few but passed-by by many simply because their name is not recognized.

The comments in that post are an amazing collection of such talent. I have poked around at a few new names and found a few fics lists but frankly it is not easy to figure out where to start. This got me thinking!

I would like to invite any writer or artist (whether they are named in the comments byroney’s post or not) to pimp themselves here.

Ideally I would like to see the following:
- Your username
- 2 fics/works of art (your most popular and your personal favourite)
- Please include proper links, with pairings, ratings and any warnings (summaries if you wish).

I really hope people will not be shy and will add their names so we call discover a few authors/artists that are new to us. I would like to see links from people who have only one or two stories (art) and people who already have quite and archive (even if you are already considered 'well-read' I would love to know which fic is your personal favourite!)

Another self-pimpage comment...


I am writing a fic that starts during the final battle in Book 7 and continues probably for at least another year.

Main Pairing: Harry/Draco
Other pairings in the background.
Rating: NC-17 (eventually. currently has the same rating as DH)
Word Count: WIP... will be long
Genre: Adventure, Angst, Romance
Status: WIP
Warnings: Hogwarts Era, post-DH, EWE, Friendship, Slash, Possible threesome.

Summary: After the war, the survivors try to find a way to cope with the losses they have incurred and move into a future they have yet to create. As they try to find ways to save themselves, they realize that perhaps the best way is to save each other.

Draco is intent on regaining pride of place for the Malfoy name (and a bit of the pureblood agenda, which may not be what we thought it was). The best person to help him is...?

Now that he can envision himself actually having a future, Harry is trying to figure out what he wants for that future.

This story will eventually be Harry Draco Slash. It will probably take a while to get there from here.


In terms of posting frequency:

The first six chapters are posted. I am currently in the midst of Nanowrimo (National Novel Writing Month, in which we challenge ourselves to write 50,000 word of a novel in one month). For my Nanowrimo novel, I am writing madly to add 50,000 words to this fic in November. So far, it is helping me to get the story and plot moving, although I expect I'll have to do some significant rewrites before posting the results of the writing frenzy.

The next chapters will probably post in December, once I've had a chance to clean up the massive writing that came out of Nano.
