Me on AO3

So... after years of saying I would someday, I finally got an AO3 account.

Basically an old Buffy archive (Angel Book of Days) was moving to AO3 and it was a good excuse to move my fics that were there archive with ABoD over to A03.

I'm slowly uploading my fics. But eventually, any fic over 2k should be archived there.

After deleting my IJ account it is nice to think I will have a backup somewhere. :)

I have to tell you, as a single lady, this is the best valentine's news I could get.

I've found that people comment less over there but that at least you can see the hit count. It's nice to have a backup.

I quite like the format at AO3. If they added a way to communicate with other members (outside of story comments) it would be perfect. As [livejournal.com profile] archaeologist_d pointed out, fewer people comment but the alternative "kudos" is nice. The site traffic does seem to be slowly increasing. When I first joined it was a bit of a ghost ship!

Yay! I quite like it over there. The Kudos thing is cool, and I think there is actually a pretty big readership of people who like to download fics in different formats to read more easily. So it's good to have stuff there. *nod* Also, are you using the import link feature? It's amaaaaaazing! Saves so much time in uploading stuff. :)

I love the AO3 so much! Amazon is probably wondering what I needed a Kindle for and the answer is I download everything I read from the archive.

\o/!!

I love it when I hear my fave authors are on AO3. Ever since I got a Kindle I realize the brilliance of that site and now whenever someone posts a long fic I keep my fingers crossed that it's available on AO3 too.

Oooh, that's great! Hopefully I'll be able to do some back-reading as AO3 makes it easy to put fic on my kindle. :)

also, because i'm nosy and read other comments on this post - a lot of people I read tend to import older fics with the current date so it shows up on quick lists, etc. They usually put a "this was originally written/posted on _______" type of note which I appreciate as writing styles change, etc.
