Ah, I love this. <3 I totally get off on an older, wiser Merlin who is all ~in-touch with the world and still feels easy and comfortable with Arthur, and I love how the summary of what's happened in those five years played out at the beginning - because everything would have happened differently if Merlin had disappeared like he initially meant to when the Questing Beast bit Arthur. It's sort of fascinating how it changed in that way, how Morgana ended up with Mordred instead of Morgause, and kind of went mad, and just - yes. This is lovely. And I love that Arthur went along with the Emrys thing at first. XD That was so cool. The Dragon's an ass though. *shakes head*
