Semi-unpopular opinion: I adore bottom!Arthur (mostly in sex; heavy D/s isn't my kink), because giving up control/admitting what he sees as weakness can be such a soul-wracking struggle for him. I don't, however, buy top!Merlin, which means only certain fics like that work for me, where things fall into place very carefully. Favorite character: Arthur, by a hair. I love and get and want to cuddle Merlin, but Arthur, my god the repression in that boy. Also, the moments when he breaks through the prattishness to actually connect are so much better for its existence in the first place.
Most hard-done by character and the one I most want to smack the producers for: Morgana. Oh, honey. Everyone, just everyone uses, breaks, or lies to you. (Except, oddly, Arthur, which only adds to the love there.) Aaaand someday someone will remember you can actually hold a sword and kick ass.
