I hate hearing about things like this... it makes me feel so powerless. :( There's so much suffering in the world, and all our efforts to help seem to barely make a dent.

I understand completely.
I can't watch the news, tbh. I read enough to understand the gravity of the issue, but the details and the heartbreak... I need to step away or it becomes too much. :(

I'm so relieved that it isn't happening to me - then feel so guilty afterwards because these people are suffering so much while I'm here, safe and... It's just unbelievable how much they have to endure. :(

I totally get what you mean. It's only natural to feel that way... and of course feel guilty afterwards. :( But none of us would wish this on anyone (including ourselves). :(
