December is moving in a blur
Dec. 10th, 2012 11:27 amSo Friday, Mr. M took the day off work and the two of us spent the day in the mall and shopped until our Christmas lists were decimated and then ate shawarma ala Avengers.
Sunday was a holiday party and
Eldest: I really want the Grey Cup DVD for Christmas
Santa: [Jawdrop] WOW! Are you a CFL Football fan?
Eldest: Yeah.
Santa: It was the 100th Grey cup this year. Did you know that?
Eldest: Yeah. I went to it.
Santa: [really loudly. And OBVIOUSLY JEALOUS] You WENT!!! I had to watch it on TV.
Eldest: It was a lot of fun.
Santa: WOW. That must have been amazing. I'm really big Argos fan.
Eldest: REALLY? ME TOO!!
Santa: *coughs* [obviously forgetting himself] I mean, I'm Santa... so I need to be impartial about these things. But it was great to see Toronto win.
Me: AHHAHAHAHAH
Santa: Anyway, FOR SURE you'll get a DVD of the game. That would be... yeah. For sure. Great gift.
Mr. M: Dear Santa, those DVDs ARE NOT OUT YET. THANKS SO MUCH.
It was all pretty awesome and amusing. Not everyday a kid gets to make Santa super jealous. LOL.
stuff I want/need/really should to get done today:
~finally update Merlin/Arthur rec lists
~post a few Teen Wolf recs (I have - *stops to count* - 35 fics in my 'to rec' gdoc)
~write christmas cards
~write more filthy Peter/Stiles
In the meantime:
I liked it. I thought it was very enjoyable to watch. LOVED that we finally got a woman and a sorcerer who was loyal and trustworthy and competent and NOT EVIL. Even though she naturally had to die, I appreciate that her death had meaning to the plot and to her character and not 'random arrow hit her so that she could die and Merlin could cry'. I really thought we were going to see Merlin die on the roof and then BAM! regenerate or whatever an awesome confirmation that Merlin is immortal. It's the 4th last ep of the series, it was a great opportunity to do that! But seeing the dragon was nice, even if he's dying. D:
The precious secret of the box was ... pretty disappointing. I mean. yes, it gave a NAME to the final battle, but since it implied it's inevitable that Arthur will die there... what's the point? Info on how to stop it would be more useful/worth dying for, yes?
I really liked Merlin being all stubborn with Gaius and RIGHT. and basically WISE. and BAMF. that was awesome. Arthur, when he was on screen, was crazy adorable and totally flirty with Merlin. It's too bad we see no remorse from Gwen and no fall out at all for what she'd done. :/ But then again they literally have no time left at all to explore that. *sigh*
For me, the worst part of the whole watch was the preview for next week. I like Mordred. I like what they are doing with him (him being adorable and sweet and just wanting to be loved) and Merlin just not able to trust him. It's interesting. Kudos to them for that! Except now it looks like insta-evil strikes again. It just not earned. idek... the whole thing feels impossibly fast and I'm having a hard time giving the writer the benefit of the doubt. But I they sold me on the sweetest and sincerity of this Mordred and it's going to take a lot for me to believe a complete change of heart (to the point of joining up with Morgana) even with the loss of someone he loved (and worse because we've never heard that he loved her before this point). They could have devoted this season to doing Mordred justice and making his betrayal believable... they chose not to.
but let next week come... for now, I'll be happy with this past Saturday's have a lot of stuff that I liked and not as much stuff that I hated.
