Typing update for the 3 of you that care: Page 58 of 58!!! I am DONE, BABY. Well the typing, which was my goal. Unfortunately, there are bits that look like: “Yes. In the war of... [insert boring something here]” and Geoffrey handed the parchment to Arthur [Arthur’s emotional reaction - details, important moment] LOL - just a bit of editing required.


Also I lost a scene - what the hell! I typed it all in, the entire fic, and then I was like, shit. I know I wrote a scene with X and Y. WHERE IS IT??? It took me an hour to find it, such is my organizational skills. (it was scribbled on the back of an outline)

Anyway! YAY! I'm looking forward to my favourite part - the clean up.

In less self-indulgent news, merlin_holidays posted our Reveal YAY! What a great fest that was. I'm definitely looking forward to next year, though I wanna write next time!

So now that reveals are up, I'm going to add all the authors' names into my rec posts, then I hope to be able to update the big rec lists next week.

Hmm... You know - I might need to consider splitting those lists soon. :/ I'm afraid they aren't going to fit in one LJ post much longer. Maybe by size? Like under 3k in one list and and 3k+ in another... IDEK - any suggestions?

Summary: Modern AU. Arthur moves to a different city to start a new life and become a new man. On a whim he decides to share a flat with an attractive stranger, and quickly gets drawn into Merlin's odd little world

Do read the warnings on this fic, they are spoilery, I guess, but important in deciding if this fic is for you. In the hand of a lesser author (though I have no idea who the author is at this point, but I know they are talented) this could have been a train wreck. Or at least the type of fic to really squick me. Instead the author took Arthur (and us) on an amazing ride of one week in Merlin’s life where he (and we) are shown Merlin's world of freaks and crazies and best of all acceptance. Everyone is a little broken and all in their own way and together they live and love and look after each other. Brilliantly written and a wonderful emotional journey of finding your place in life when you need it most.

Contains: All kinks are Safe, Sane & Consensual. Drowning, both deliberate and accidental. Hypothermia. Breath-play. D/s. Eroticized humiliation, including boot worship, bukkake, dirty talk, rimming, hair-pulling, and induced wetting, i.e. watersports. Mild BDSM, including bruising and spanking.
Summary: Nearly drowning at the gates of Avalon has left Arthur with a half-formed need for something he doesn't properly remember, and his quest to satisfy that feeling has him "accidentally" falling into the nearest body of water. Together he and Merlin learn to trust each other, awkwardly figuring out each other's kinks along the way.

Read the warnings on this one if some common kinks are your squicks, but know that the kinks are brilliantly done – trickled throughout the fic and cleverly used as plot points. I certainly expected this to be a 12k PWP based on the kink list. It’s not. There is a wonderful story being told in the midst of, and told through all the kink. Really wonderfully done, with great charactisation. It surprised me every step of the way. One of the hottest fics I’ve ever read.
