valinorean requested a custom rec: any next gen centered fic but with H/D in the background. Surprisingly, there are a lot like that. Quite a few AS/S fics have hints (or more!) of H/D, but I opted for something a little different.

I really hope you haven’t read these only so that I can proudly claim to have pointed you to two fabulous Next Gen fics. :) They are both ridiculously hot. Really, totally, unbelievably HOT. They are also a great examples of what Next Gen offers in terms of being able to build excellent characterisations rooted in canon, while still having a lot of freedom. Lee loves to build a great cast of characters in her fics, so there are lots of faces in this fic some of Harry’s gen, and many next gens all having their own issues and opinions on both the H/D and the Scorpius/James Jr./Teddy mess. The H/D play a fairly minor role in the first fic, but shows up a bit more strongly in the second. I hope it hits on what you were looking for. :D

A delish age-disparity non-magical modern AU.This is a club fic with older!Arthur and student!Merlin. The sex is scorching.

Summary: Merlin has his happily-ever-after with Arthur, but he can't help but think about the past and what could have been.

This is a really lovely, achey fic. It’s an interesting look at paths not taken and what we would be willing to give up if we felt that we hadn’t followed the right path. *blinks back tears*

That Night At The Club by eldee [NC-17] (13k) Merlin/Arthur, Morgana/Gwen
Summary: They will say, long past Morgana's birthday, that it was that night at the club when things really started to happen between Arthur and Merlin. Naturally, Morgana and Gwen like to take credit, but so does Val, despite Arthur and Merlin's protests that they would've figured it out themselves. Eventually.

A fun, fun fic with match-making Morgana and Gwen who are sick of two oblivious boys being oblivious.

lolafeist and agenttrojie took the same premise (I think it was something like Merlin has both Arthur and Gwaine and yet he’s still not happy???IDEK! I assume one of them will correct me???) and wrote two different styles of fics on that. The result is two very different, yet delightful fics. :D

Summary: Merlin dares Arthur and Gwaine to kiss. It doesn't go exactly how he planned.

I adore lolafeist’s Gwaine. With lines like “Going to ride me, Princess,” she makes me lol and squirm at the same time. Adorable and hot like burning threesome PWP. This kind of bottom Arthur, where it’s about Arthur bottoming for this first time... hgfdkghdfkhgkdfjhgjkf... I’ll be in my bunk.

Truce by agenttrojie [NC-17] (2k) Arthur/Gwaine/Merlin
Summary: Merlin has both the men he wants, but he's not happy.

The premise of this fic is one of my absolute favourite future!fic bunnies. I love love love how the author played this out, showing the complexity of a threesome and all the emotion behind making polyamory work when it’s not a balanced relationship.
