numbers make segues unnecessary!

I've been skimming the flist for the last 10 days, catching 10 minutes here and there, squeezing in drive-by comments. Mostly, I have been rushed and unable to properly respond to anything.

1) If you friended me in the last 2 weeks and you are not a bot, please leave a comment or PM me. I will gladly friend you, but with the mass-botting going on, I can't keep track anymore and assume most friending come from bots.

2) I have many opinions on the 'recent discussion' that I won't bore you with. There has been plenty of intelligent discussion and I won't be adding anything new. If anyone is interested, feel free to ask. I'm keeping my mouth shut to avoid beating a dead horse, not because I'm purposely trying to stay out it.

3) Thank you to everyone that added fics to the Next Gen Favourites list. It is an absolute GOLDMINE!!! Woot! If you haven't yet, do check it out. Sooooooo many great fics. I've been nodding at my favs and bookmarking everyone I haven't read. My conversion plan is on schedule.

4) hp_rarities has started posting! I'd really like to catch up and start doing regular rec posts for it. We'll see if I can squeeze it in. I proof-read a few fics for it and they were great. Oh, and I need to catch up on hds_beltane! Thank you to Winnett and Byroney for reccing from that fest! Then there's been so many fics posted in personal ljs this week that I missed! Ack!

5) There's also this thing called hd_career_fair that I might kinda-sorta be invested in and prompt submissions might be starting like less than a week.

6) Ok, I'm devoting today to typing in my hp_sas fic. Shit! I hate this part. *grumbles at only being able to write with pen and paper*

What I read during my husband's vacation.

My limited time on-line last week meant a great chance to catch up on my MUST READ ASAP pile. I managed to read three things. I HIGHLY recommend them all.

Wicked Gentlemen – which is of course, an actual BOOK, and not a bunch of papers 10pt font, 4 up… It was nice. Very nice. Both the feel of the book in my hand and the book itself. I thought it was a lovely universe with interesting characters. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you very much, Rickey!!! ♥

Title: A Prelude To Ruin

This was written for the lovely melusinahp for livelongnmarry. It's incredibly written. Made me want to re-write ever sex scene I'd ever written because – dammit – this is how it's done. *stares in awe* Yes, I ached in envy reading it. And a beautifully spun relationship between Lucius and Regulus. Impressive fic, all around.

Summary: Whatever way you look at it, James Potter is seriously cool. And this is coming from a Slytherin, mind you. A Malfoy Slytherin, no less, and you hate the Potters. It's in the blood. Except, apparently, it's really not.

I don’t think I'd have read this fic, if it hadn't been recced to high heavens. The present tense 2nd person threw me for the first… 1000 words. I'm not sure I've ever read a fic in that style and I did struggle to keep focused. But dammit everyone said it was amazing and I did print out the entire 59k of it! So I felt I needed to give the first 10k a good try at least. Woot! Am I ever glad I stuck with it. There is a reason this fic is recced so often and so passionately. It is an instant classic. Funny and hot and well written. James's characterization, through Scorpius's eyes is fabulous. You cannot help fall in love with him. A great feel good, happy, clever fic. ANYONE could love this fic.


ETA: kennahijja is gaging people's interest in a write your own fic fest.

It falls in same time line as hp_sas and career_fair so I'm totally out. But WOW, I love the concept. I think authors do really well at writing their own plot bunnies/prompts but often times the fics don't get finished or as much exposure as fest fics do.
