The 'Oh Canada' Comment fest.

I love Rent boy fics. LOVE THEM. However, this morning I got overwhelmed and tweeted:

All these fics with Stiles needing to turn tricks to pay for his dad's hospital bills is like a giant add for universal health coverage.
Everyone needs to move to Canada. D:

which prompted: #ifTeenWolfwassetinCanada

and a whole lot of amazing ideas spammed my timeline. So, twist my arm and here we go.

The 'Oh Canada' Comment fest.

So prompt away! Any fandom, any pairing!

What would the popular tropes be in your fandom if it were set in Canada?

Give me all the Poutine!shop AUs, all the trips to Hôtel de Glace... you have to know that EVERYONE looks good in a Mountie uniform.

ART, Gifs, Fic - whatever you want to contribute, eh?

Merlin AU,

Certain bits of Canada are cold through the winter, so students Merlin and Arthur pass the cold months in the usual Canadian way, sex and pot. Lots of lazy/stoned sex essentially.

Because when it's -35 outside, and -42 with windchill there isn't much else to do.

OMG this is a perfect description of Trent (http://www.trentu.ca/).

I feel it covers a large portion of the mid-Ontario schools (I went to Carleton)

[identity profile] lilithilien.livejournal.com 2013-03-07 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but I suggested Trent because it has the residence colleges. You can take an entire semester without ever leaving your hall (or changing out of your pyjamas). Carleton's got its share of party people, but it's also got so many students living off-campus that it doesn't have quite the same feel.

Oh, you are right! Is it Trent the one that's a bit removed from the city? (Or was that Guelph)

I imagine that would be... an interesting environment.

Yeah, Peterborough is about 2 hours north of Toronto. The town closes down at 5 and its major industry is senior citizens housing. I didn't go there but my husband is an alum, and his stories are crazy!

Carleton has an awesome tunnel system - it's huge, but you can go to most of your classes, and even across the road to the gymn, without seeing the light of day. And yes - the whole pyjama thing is true... :) Plus back in my day, there was awesome tunnel graffiti. Most of it has been painted over now, I'd heard...

Trent used to have a secret reputation of being the LGBT capital of Canada's universities - I didn't go there, so I don't know if it's true (but it sounded like a good draw to me!) I moved away from Peterborough when I was 11, so I don't have first hand experience of its lack of nightlife.

Guelph is an agricultural college - again, never been there, but I had a friend who's sister was studying veterinary medicine there.

I love how we are all so close!!!!

Guelph has the big Uni right in Guelph, and the Ag College campus is in a super small town a couple hours south.
