Gwen as also great - loved her reaction in each scene. She does comedy very well, not sure we've had enough opportunity to enjoy that.

oh and Merlin/Morgana. yeah - SOMEONE WRITE A b/j SCENE BEFORE SHE CURSES HIM. GOD.

And that last scene? Was it just me or was there a very bradley smile at the word 'polishing'

I will say... the ONE THING I WILL COMPLAIN ABOUT?

If Merlin had been ANY OTHER CHARACTER (maybe with the exception of Gaius) he would have been shirtless at least 4 times during this ep. Seriously.

Arthur tending Merlin's wound in the forest? SHIRTLESS OPPORTUNITY
That suspension torture type scene? SHIRTLESS OPPORTUNITY
Gaius discovering the snake? SHIRTLESS OPPORTUNITY
Gaius paralyzing the snake the second time? SHIRTLESS OPPORTUNITY

Instead it's all... we'll just barely move the big ass neckerchief out of the way so that we show as little of Colin's stunning pale skin as possible.

but um... it is all forgiven because Arthur walking around the room while naked, talking to Merlin is CANON. so there. "You aren't Merlin" has got to be the best line EVER in this show. ahahhaha.

I'm starting to think so. It really wasn't obvious until this episode, when it actually stood out how little of Merlin we saw. Like that life threatening wound? we saw none of it. odd.

Gaius cuts open Merlin's neck? AND DOES NOT REMOVE THE NECKERCHIEF? very odd.

Fair enough, but it's one thing to do nude for a theatre audience, knowing that only the people attending will ever see it, and doing it for telly, knowing a) it's on record and can be pulled out at any point of your career and b) is seen by a shitload of people.

To be fair though, I was being somewhat facetious in my comment. I don't see CMorg as the kind of guy who'd refuse to do a scene or have much in the way of self-consciousness when it comes to doing his job and acting a part. OTOH, maybe he disapproves of gratuitous nudity and only bares all when it's an integral character and plot element.

And this writer is awesome! She gave us Elena last season and now wayyy more Gwen then we've been getting lately, a Merlin/Morgana fight and NAKED ARTHUR. And just - Arthur called Merlin loyal and not at all cowardly and HUGGED HIM. WHILE HE WAS COVERED IN MUD.

I am in my happy place right now.

You know, I also really loved how, when Merlin was trying to kill Arthur, Arthur's background chatter was actually about how much he was afraid he wasn't like his father. That just goes to show he shares a lot of personal stuff with Merlin and trusts him a lot.

AND GAHHH THE MERLIN/MORGANA. GAHHH. JUST. THOSE TWO KILLED ME WITH THE TENSION RADIATING OFF THE SCREEN.

Heee! I had a feeling you were being a little ambitious trying to start that hiatus before today! I'm going on hiatus tomorrow myself because OMG too much to write.

I was really skeptical about this season, too. I have never been so happy to be wrong. Even if the rest of the season is crap, we'll have half a season of PURE GLORY to roll around in forever. (though I'm kind of hoping that stuff about choosing family and all was just the angsty stuff in the first few eps)

Erm. YESSSS!!! I loved that part! Gwen was ogling him so shamelessly and Arthur all boyishly uncomfortable 'but you're not Merlin'! Adorable!

I loved the blatant h/c dynamics and how Arthur doesn't even hide his fondness and love for Merlin anymore (hugging, carrying him over his shoulder, telling him his brave and loyal, issuing massive search parties - remember in season 1 where Merlin was 'worth less' - nobody in the council even dared argue that way anymore)

This season is just so much love. Can't wait to get the dvds!

I was vv wary going into this season. I was sure the knights and A/G would dominate the majority of the storylines and overshadow the core A/M relationship. And after some of the more recent interviews, I was just waiting for some shoddily conceived A/M rift-age to commence, but NONE OF THAT HAS COME TO PASS. In fact, everything has gone so much better than I ever could've imagined. A lot of the issues I had with S3 have already been taken care of and the A/M bond is just getting stronger and stronger even with Arthur having been turned against magic once more. I know we're only at the halfway point here, and there's still time for some major fail, but even if this is all I end up loving in S4, 6 entertaining episodes of A/M being front and center is so much more than I thought we'd get.

At last count I've rewatched this episode three time and that bathtub scene ENDLESS TIMES. Their love and comedic timing is a thing of BEAUTY. This cast really loves one another and is so comfy around each other and it's wonderful that they finally get to have that tactile comfort come through on-screen.

PLUS, 35mm this year is FOR THE WIN!

TEEHEE! Yes, it's perfectly normal if he walks around naked while talking to Merlin, but he freezes when Gaius and Gwen walk in on him. OMG I <3 you, show.

Yeah, I was a bit thrown that we didn't have at least one shirtless moment for Merlin, given that Gaius is doing a makeshift operation on him. I could get why Arthur wasn't yanking his shirt off in the forest, since they were being pursued by bandits and might have to bolt at any moment through brush and briars and such. The shirt would give Merlin at least some protection, but the rest? WTF? We've had shirtless!Merlin before, WHY NOT NOW?! And Morgana had the perfect chance to ogle what has been exclusively Arthur's province Merlin's pretty chest, all villainess-like!

Gwen being awesome is awesome. Seriously. Am absolutely dancing for joy that she had something to do that didn't grow from her being Arthur's girlfriend. SO MUCH YAY!

Merlin/Morgana magical brawl 1.0! W00T! Here's to round two! EEEE!

That first moment when Morgana saw Dragoon was pretty hysterical, wasn't it? She opened the door, saw him, gave that little hiccup of a laugh/sob, and shut the door. Ten seconds later, she comes in, completely terrified but still ready to be BAMF at the drop of a hat. AWESOME! Those two have needed a chance to beat the crap out of each other for years, and I'm looking forward to more!!
