I'm starting to think so. It really wasn't obvious until this episode, when it actually stood out how little of Merlin we saw. Like that life threatening wound? we saw none of it. odd.

Gaius cuts open Merlin's neck? AND DOES NOT REMOVE THE NECKERCHIEF? very odd.

possibly he has recent tattoos and body piercing that cannot be hidden. /new headcanon
